Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)

What a lovely surprise to see upon my return from Yosemite!
Shared matcha and chawan!!! Yay!!! :D :D :D

I had the same reaction as V - that middle one looks nice.
Adam, I wonder if you might let us know which matcha is which (maybe from left to right in the photo?); I really want to know!

Love your family shot!
I'm curious how you like your glass chawan, I have one and always slosh tea out  when whisking which leaves me not liking mine so much - how 'bout you?

Luvvvv that baby front left in the photo, what a beaut!

I think I'm due for another sub-family shot, maybe the Lum gang next?

My Chawans:
The front left brown one, is by Jason Fasi TA artisan Bearsbearsbears. The Domatcha was prepared in that chawan.

The Seafoam Green chawan is a Tall sided Hagi Chawan, in which the last of my Tancho-no-mukashi was prepared.

The Beige One dubbed no-fu-sa-to after the characters on the stamp, contained the Wakamatsu-no-mukashi.

I actually do not use the glass chawan often, as I prefer flat or flatter sided chawans, I find it easier to whisk. The glass chawan, I would have to whisk to far from the bottom of the chawan, which leaves clumps (even with whisking) stuck at the bottom.

Thanks everyone. I've had it for awhile, but not a quiet time to have matcha! Quite unacceptable, I need to fix that somehow. :)

Mmmm strawberries! Looks great Cory!

Greetings Cory and family!
So nice to share some matcha and berries!
May you find many such moments
And may they nourish you
Deeply
And often.

Cheers.

Today Jayzo "Mermaid" chawan (it consistently reminds me of the sea).
Wako matcha.

(both images are enlargeable if you click on them - so you can see the tea dust! :D )

Chawan - Gingko Leaves Falling On Moonless Night.

Matcha - Wako. A lovely matcha - interestingly best at higher temperatures (approaching boiling). Creamy sweetness.

Cheers.

Thank you V!
So nice to see you here.
And... You too!!
Your shots have become so crisp and beautiful.
Wonderful!
Makes me want matcha!
Do you whisk right in that summer chawan itself, or in another and transfer?

I still have hopes of joining up for some oolong in PV someday.
Maybe later this year?
Cheers.

Thanks Seek! I whisk it in a larger Korean matcha serving bowl then pour into the summer chawan. It's way to shallow for whisking with any vigor. My Korean set is the only matcha 'serving set' I have seen. A serving or whisking bowl with a spout and two matching chawans.

Yep, still looking forward to that meet up, whenever that may happen.
Sounds great. :)
