My little treebark pot seems like it was grown, or dug out of the ground--a natural something found, not something made.

Last week, we had workshop fucused on glazes for woodfiring , busy time with many people in our house, a lot of work and fun, two firings of our small experimental wood kiln to 1350°C. Aside from teaching and sharing of our regular glazes and techniques we always try some new, suprice glaze(es). This time it was the famous "snow flake", quite tricky one...If we would like to keep using it, we have to work on it, but for the start it is not so bed....

we use recepie with 1% of copper, it end up with red "dust" on the bottom...

Wow! That kyusu looks amazing!!! The colours are wonderful and the surface looks like nothing I have ever seen - man-made nature.

Very cool.

I had another session with my treebark pot last night, and it is still doing the amazing aroma trick--where it seems to amplify the fruitiest scents of the roasted oolongs brewed in it. Very curious how much that is due to the clay, the surface texture, or a combination of both, and whether this almost-hobnail pot would have a similar effect.

Ai, what a wonderful teapot Petr! When I was a kid I actually had a bark collection; old weathered bits and pieces I found in the woods with wonderful colored lichens and moss and all. So beautiful. This one is bark of old pine, the way it deeply segments, such satisfying texture. It seems right to me that tea leaves should rest in that sort of form. I love looking at artisan ware in this forum, eagerly watching mailbox for two from Andrzej, and I'm so greedy I will have to have one from you too before I'm done. Terrific work, as usual.
