Really beautiful and thought out set, Pooblah. I am guessing that maybe this was custom made for you by Petr ... and you requested the white interior glazing which is very functional and a striking contrast to the shino. I love how the white runs down the side so seemingly random ... but likely planned.Poohblah wrote:Beautiful cup, deb.![]()
New tea set from Petr Novák
I apologize if any of the pictures have a color cast; I'm a little color blind

But matcha in a dark/winter teabowl can be stunning...

I may have another set coming in a couple months. Something much smaller, for oolongs this time.

Beautiful set Poohblah. I as well enjoy drinking from a white interior cup. Whatever I drink in bizen ware it's hard to tell what colour the liquid is.

Agreed! Though I don't understand why Chip is being so cryptic...Chip wrote:... eh hem ... sweet "Black Kinsai kyusu by Maekawa Junzo"Buzz Fledderjohn wrote:Noutomi Susumu Aohagi Tawarade yunomi and Black Kinsai kyusu by Maekawa Junzo.

Nice Petr-yaki, I love the glaze and I too am a fan of white interiors. I've been admiring his stuff for a long time but have never pulled the trigger.

Two wonderful sets, congratulations to Poohblah and Buzz.
I too prefer light-colored interiors for my teacups, though not often truly white.

More times than not, I will pick white or whitish interiors for tea viewing (and have purchased and had many cups made with white interiors including Hagi SOs for this expressed reason), but I am less ardent about this than I used to be. I guess after seeing the tea in my cup so many times, it has become less of an overriding priority every time ...

Having said all that, today started out with Asatsuyu in Hagi SO Tempest which was stunning in the white crackled interior!

I have posted this pot before but the crackles on the inside have developed so nicely I just had to post updated pics:

Wow, really nice and yet still subtle. If you had not linked both before and after images I might not have noticed and taken the tea effect as the original glaze. But the tea effected glaze has more depth and richness. Very nice!Jspigs wrote:I have posted this pot before but the crackles on the inside have developed so nicely I just had to post updated pics:
