Ah! Good to know. Thanks.

I'm glad chrl42 came into this thread. You can see the pitfalls of this business and the duplicity that takes place on many levels. Vendors selling things they either don't know about or bother to find out about, or, don't tell you the whole truth. It's so important to know your vendor these days and question them about everything. If they can't answer your questions, they usually don't know enough to be selling pots. This is also one of the reasons I am reluctant to buy a new pot.

Charles - thanks for once again helping with the great complexities of these clay issues. The dhp people are discussing in this topic is not the original dhp, but the clay that a potter selling through Yunnan Sourcing is calling dhp. You spoke to that confusion well in the topic on those pots.

Of course there is such a thing as Yixing Kyusu. A good part of yixing pots were made for the Japanese market thru out the 20th C. Specially in the 60s-80s. Most of them looks like a Shuiping with a side handle like a kyusu.
Got a pic for you tingjunkie:

What the? That looks pretty weird. I kind of want to call "photoshopped," but it's possible. What's the source?

Interesting Tim! I have to say that does not look very ergonomic at all.

Well, it is certainly interesting if you have not seen one before... style-wise, it really depends on your conditioning of the culture.

The necessary whirling motion to brew a sencha or gyokuro, actually make the side ear perform quite comfortably and functional. This was from a Japanese antique shop, a mass produce 70s yixing made for Japanese market.
