Are you going to give us a report on that new bowl when you get it?Salsero wrote:http://www.thejapanesegreenteashop.com/ ... atcha+Bowlel padre wrote: So, what'd you get?
I have this one, which I got at the Seattle Uwajimaya. I quite like it, and use it at work several times per week. I really like the one you ordered though, and have been eyeing it for awhile.
I keep two basic bowls at the office, for sharing. Last week I had a nice opportunity to prepare matcha for one of my regular clients. He was very interested, and had been asking questions about it... even went down to a tea shop in NW Portland that serves it. He told me that it was too hot to drink and no froth, so I had to share matcha done properly. Afterward, I suspect he was off to Uwajimaya to pick up a set.

Sure. I like it: it's solid, shiny black. The speckles in the vendor photo must be some sort of reflection like the speckles in Padre's vendor photo.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: Are you going to give us a report on that new bowl when you get it?
It is a about the same size as my other one, but weighs a lot more because it is much thicker. The additional weight feels good.
I wouldn't mind a little more foot to grab onto, but what's there is OK. The varying heights of the rim + the straight sides mean I have to tilt my head back farther than I would like to get the last bit out. I guess that's OK as long as I don't fall over backward.

You should try one that has a slight curve inward! I have a great little shino bowl from Cyrus the Potter on Etsy, it curves in just a bit, kind of a trick to get the last bit, but I love the bowl.Salsero wrote: The varying heights of the rim + the straight sides mean I have to tilt my head back farther than I would like to get the last bit out. Really? You can't see the speckles at all? what about in bright light?

There is a specialized tool to get the last bit out:GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: kind of a trick to get the last bit
