Very nice looking tea setup. You know Hojo makes a big point of saying that the Sado clay is not as good as the bankoyaki pots with green tea. Sado being better for oolongs. In his shop, I tasted tea made with water from a tetsubin for the first time. The difference was enormous.fortunato wrote:Yes, I get it from Hojo. I really love it, never had a kyusu like that so far... I only drink high grade sencha as Hon Yama Hebizuka with it... About zhuni I never compared because I never had a yixing teapot, I only drink japanese green tea...Tead Off wrote:fortunato,
Did you get that Sado pot from Hojo? How are you liking it and what are you brewing in it? I had a chance to taste from a Sado pot in Hojo's shop but the pot didn't make better tea than the yixing zhuni that we tested side by side. What do you think?
I love the look and feel of the Sado pots. They have a very sexy presence. The lid rest is perfect for that lid of the Sado.

As I talked with Akira Hojo, the Watanabe Tozo sado island natural red clay kyusu is perfect with japanese green tea, and you can believe me he thinks the same. But not with the greenish ones as Fukamushicha i.e., but with more flowery, pure and clean Sencha as the one Akira Hojo has, I mean the Hon Yama Hebizuka !
It's (for my humble palate) perfect !
I tasted the strong fired and light fired Hon Yama Hebizuka, both are great with the Watanabe Tozo kyusu I have, and I tasted it with my Tachi Masaki Banko Yaki purple clay, it wasn't as great as the Watanabe Tozo kyusu wich is enhanced the flavor amazingly !
Sexy is a good term to describe the Watanabe Tozo kyusu that I have, it seems the Futa Oki (lid rest) was expecially made by Yamane Seigan for my lid kyusu, but not, fortunately it fits by chance...
I'd like to thank everybody to be interested by my teaware pictures, I didn't expected that at all, I can post more things as my Tachi Masaki Banko Yaki teapot next time and a few things more, I also saw there is a topic about Hagi Yaki...
I have a few things from Hagi made by Yamane Seigan and Deishi Shibuya.
Those 3 Natsu Chawan are made by a friend Suzuki Aisaku, a Japanese artist who lives in Germany :Victoria wrote:Wow great stuff fortunato!! Thanks for sharing! Love that tray, and your Seigan looks so vididly blue!! I'd love closer pics of your 3 large more shallow bowls, I am searching for one of those right now.![]()

Ummm WOW!! They are stunning!
Thank you! I will keep an eye on that site.
I don't see any summer bowls there now.

Ok, Ok, not tea ware but I thought "our ceramists" may be interested.
Attention cutaways.
I got this 5 years or so ago, and have not seen any thing like it since.
It is a tea light candle holder. (notice tea theme)

Needless to say it throws some wild shadows.

sorry for the bad snaps, you get the concept
good luck
