+1.
My spirit reaches up like the carp, and while the fall is imminent, the suspension in mid-air seems like forever.

My new favorite scrolls from the Choson Period hanging in our tearoom.
A very generous gift from our closest friend and patriot.

And now for something completely different.
My coworkers order chinese food sometimes, (suprisingly good food actually) and everytime they receive a bonus (like a bottle of liqueur and stuff like that).
Today´s gift was a scroll calendar for 2011
(A certification of the growing popularity of the tea culture)
For your viewing pleasure, enjoy :

Thanks. I should inscribe that comment above onto the scroll.

To Tim and JBaymore, your houses look so amazing and relaxing! JBay, I don't think I've ever seen chairs like that before. Very cool!

greentam,
Thanks. Yes..... the tearoom is a nice place to be.
Those low chairs made for tatami mats are actually pretty common new additions in Japan. I was introduced to them at a friends place in Motegi years ago.....and got some for the washitsu heya (Japanese room).
Here's a different style but the same concept:

Changing of the Scroll Day
This is a little tea ceremony scroll that I found at an antiques flea market at Toji in Kyoto a few weeks ago.
(I still need one of those devices that lets me hang the scrolls at various heights.)
