Let me have a few more sessions before answering.Cole wrote:Jealous of the Miyabi, Chip! That blend sounded delicious online, but I had to save a couple bucks and go with the Chiran shincha in my last order. Did the umami/sweetness last through multiple sessions, or just the low temperature steeps? I've found that I can usually get a little more umami out of the second or third steeping of the Chiran, oddly enough!

I'm having a cup of sencha from Kanbayashi-san in Uji who I visited in April... yes I'm spoiled

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I received my first samples green teas,
Suizawa Tokusen Gyokuro すいざわ特選玉露
●Tokujou Sencha 特上煎茶
●Suizawa Tokujou Kabusecha すいざわ特上かぶせ茶
●Suizawa Gyokuro Shin すいざわ玉露真
●Gyokuro Aracha 玉露荒茶
●Gyokuroko 玉露粉
●Gyokuro Genmaicha 玉露玄米茶
and have tasted the first sample but I do not know Japanese and can not know which of them corresponds, does anyone could tell me?

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
It would be helpful if you would tell us where you purchased these teas.
Thanks.
Thanks.

The picture you posted is the gyokuro aracha. If you compare the characters in the central gold box (turn the picture 90-degrees clockwise) going DOWN: 玉露荒茶

Alas, one sencha that is now unobtainium ...AdamMY wrote:Found out I had a bit more Okitsugawa Miyabi left, its starting to go, but after this I am down to one more brew.
OK, thanks. I have checked this ebay seller out but never felt compelled to try their teas.oak wrote:I purchased on web page:Chip wrote:It would be helpful if you would tell us where you purchased these teas.

Just opened the Shincha LE Hana No Kaori from O-Cha a couple days ago. A rather different and interesting selection! I am sure I will have more to say shortly.

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I would say if there is room in your order for it, go for it. It has been tasty and unique with each brewing. The range of aromas and flavors has been very interesting. And it is LE and will not come around again.
It is so different that I have not yet gotten a full understanding of it.
I believe the current offering is non shincha.

I don't know this tea, Gyokuro Aracha, is the first time I try it and gives me the feeling that tastes like mother milk. On the other hand seems a bit as if producing odd effects. I think it would be like taking a nonprescription medication, do not know ...a.serrao wrote:Wow, cheap prices!!
How's the tea?

I don't know this seller and don't know the tea market. Why doubt this seller?.Chip wrote:[quote=OK, thanks. Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
I hope these are enjoyable teas for you!!!
Not so much "doubt," as much as I saw no urgency to try this seemingly ebay only shop.
Some, well actually many, of the selections are odd, sencha and gyokuro byproduct teas of little or no interest to me personally.
I see an emphasis on providing copy/pasted health info, and not enough about the selections themselves, such as harvest info, credible photos, etc.
Also this is Ise tea ... I have had some pretty mediocre teas from this growing area.
But I would try their teas if the timing was right and under the right circumstances.
