Seeker... when I prepare traditional hot matcha, I always sift and whisk by the book. For the iced matcha, I threw cold water and matcha in the Ninja blender, pulsed a few times, added ice, and blended til it was smooth. It was very delicious, and I wish I'd been having it all summer during this hot weather. Yumm.

Fornell, Horai, whisking.
Camera play. Thank you for your tolerance.
Look, there's magic sparking in the matcha! (click image to enlarge for best viewing of the magic)

More whisk visible in this one.

Cheers.

Good Day matcha friends!
Today, Coffee, on Coffee, Horai mixed with Wako (ran short on Horai!).
Warm...

sift...

gently add water...

whisk...

Ahhhh...

(you can see some unwhisked matcha in my leftover foam -- d'ohhh, the challenges of whisking in a shallow summer chawan
)
Cheers!

Love that color of you Chasen, Seeker. Is a antique one? Beautiful ~ T

Hi Tim,
Nope, not antique.
They're available from yuuki-cha.
Victoria has one too -- I found out about them from her.
Thanks V!

seeker,
Thanks for posting these images, nice to see this bowl in use. I particularly like the wisking image, quite vigorous.

Thank you Michael.
And thank you for creating such beautiful chawan! - they are all in the intuitionally vibed rotation.
(interestingly - to acheive the whisking image where you can actually see the whisk, I had to whisk the matcha properly, then do the shot after that while moving the whisk painfully slowly. I bet you know this - so I bow for your kindness as well as your patience with my words here. Normal whisking speed yields an image where it just looks like fog above the matcha. But I hope the illusion succeeds in this image, and for that I am most glad for your comment - Thank you!)
Cheers.

Greetings matcha friends.
Ronin Ceramurai, Horai-no-mukashi.

Breathing in, I see this tea
and prayerfully wish a blessing for all who have looked upon this tea
Breathing out, I sense this tea
and bow in spirit to the earth, the sun, & the water that are within this tea
Breathing in, I sip this tea
and consider all who are sipping tea, have sipped tea, will sip tea
Breathing out, I savor this tea
and the miracle of our interconnectedness
I bow deeply to the miracle in all.
Cheers.

Taken from a documentary called "Begin Japanology - Tea Ceremony"
These chawan are used in the Saidai-ji temple of Nara during a special ceremony which began during the 13th century (could not figure out the name.) These babies are 30cm wide and weigh about 5kg.
Scary, isn't it ?

I wouldn't say they are much bigger than the typical Chawan from Cory Lum

Anyway I kid.
Re: Today's MatchaWan :D (new name, but tea's the same)
I can't imagine trying to work that chasen properly.
