was carving an extra tea pot spout tool... started w/ a solid piece of hard wood, carving w/ microplane by eye... then used the carbide rasps on a final shape.. .

Nice Cory! Love that claybody
I wish I was better at woodworking, someday I want to learn to turn wood, I must have a thing for spinning stuff.
Here's a pic of a new Egote I just had custom made. Brazilian Cherry exterior with Bamboo interior for strength.

hey green
thanks
cool kote. egote
hehe
i made a series of solid cocobolo...
made one w/ a rotating tip. hehe
i think if u get the egote wet, the bamboo internal needs to be protected from water. bamboo tends to fungus..
love it
nice shape !
i even make some egote from guava tree branches...
each is different. haha
COOL !

Thanks for the tip about the bamboo, I don't intend on getting it soaked, but perhaps I'll treat it with linseed or something to further protect it.
I've been meaning to tell you that back in the fall I had the chance to see some of your collaborative work with Diane. The Carved Vase Contest/Show was held where I work. Very, VERY nice stuff!

donating 100% sales of my etsy site to 1/2 to
http://potters.blogspot.com/p/relief.html
and the other half to a non-profit TBA... there are issues w/ japan red cross. i'd like 100% of donation going to survivors.
the earthquake and tsunami was surreal
our family survived. our hearts and thoughts go out to the many families who lost loved ones and need to rebuild. japan has an amazing spirit of 'ganbaro'. much like a phoenix arising from the ashes.
