They are tilted to facilitate complete drying of recently used pieces. They are rather secure. I am pretty conservative that way.Margules wrote:How are you securing those two on the bottom that are tilted forward?
It looks like they might fall out and break if the shelves were bumped.

Chip,
I like it!
So nice to see the "family"!
TY!
I've been pondering a "family" photo (of chawan).
I'm going to wait until I'm inspired - not sure how I'll compose the "family".

Yeah me too, especially now that the boxes are stored away anyway.Seeker wrote:Chip,

Well, this is not the whole Hagi fam ...

... and this is just pieces on a shelf, not composed. My head spins thinking of trying to compose such a big fam pic.

I know what you mean. There's no way I could take a photo of all my pieces. You could always swap out your pieces and take a new photo.Chip wrote:... and this is just pieces on a shelf, not composed. My head spins thinking of trying to compose such a big fam pic.
Thank you so much for sharing part of your family with us. It is a beautiful collection!!! Do you ever have a problem choosing which Chawan to use?

This was a cheapy but a good cheapy. Picked up a set of 5 for 15 bucks. I will have to double check, but I think it is Tenzopan, more of a mass producer of Hagi. But this has nice color, pale blue/loquat and nice shape/feel. Great size as well, around 4 ounce.chicagopotter wrote:Who made the one marked in blue?
Thank you IPT. These are more cups than Chawan/bowls and the bowls are smaller than Chawan for Matcha generally ... in this photo. But it is always fun and not easy picking the drinking vessel!IPT wrote:I know what you mean. There's no way I could take a photo of all my pieces. I will work on a Chawan fam foto.

Here's my new baby. Funny how initially I didn't care for footed bowls, now I bought this one because of the feet. I love the lower profile of this bowl, it is sweet! Also the glaze is just amazing; not only in the vivid blue and contrasting areas, but I love the bare patches with clear glaze.

Oh, very nice, Victoria. I saw that one. The feet set these Seigans apart, really do like them.
I have contemplated an SO, but just not sure how pop they are to others. Maybe a variety of glazes ... well, I say too much.

Yeah it is a great cup, truly. Some other colors would be great, here's hoping!! I always feel I'm done with blue, then a piece like this comes along and pulls me back in. <said in my best Al Pacino impression>

Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
Haha I only have 3 blue pieces and I said I was done with blue before I bought my SO 11, and now I'm still saying it, but I will probably eat my words before the year is out.
Re: The unofficial, official HAGI topic!
Chip you have a wonderful setup, and so many hagi...drool
I would be afraid of an earthquake or something though.
Wow Victoria I love the blue cup. It remindes me soo much of "starry night" by Vincent Van Gogh
