Brewing 5g of 90's small yellow label (EOT) in my new 70ml pot from Jing Tea Shop. Nice pot but I'm getting less flavor/aroma than i was with my gaiwan. Hopefully it improves with use.

Nice teapot! Did you season your pot a little after receiving it? May help with getting better brews out of it.

No pre-seasoning for this pot. Just boiled it for 30min and stuffed it full of tea. It crossed my mind to add some leaf to a second boil but opted not too. I've brewed about 10 teas with it so far and its already improved a lot. Lid scent seems to be getting much stronger as well as flavor. My original plan was to use if for older more expensive tea but now i think i might stick to 90's sheng since i can afford to drink that everyday. 70ml seems to be the perfect size for a large single cup filled to the brim.

2007 Spring of Menghai Raw - Tasted a bit flowerish in the begining. Then it became bitter. Then it became light and gives a little sweet at the 8th brew onwards. Not so nice to drink now.

2003 Liu An - After trying the 1920s and 1940s, so I thought of trying it when it is still decently new. This is about 7 years old and it is no way near the taste of the oldies. This tasted very terrible. Sourish. Weird. Drinking this gives me the goose bumps.


The bamboo leave is put in by purpose. Said to be nicer to have it there

I usually go with the 3x4x3 method. Revisit the EoT once your teapot is ready !

It’s been nearly a year since I took notes on my 2009 Lao Mansa sheng from Norbu. It has sat in its wrapper, in a cloth bag, in a file drawer in my air-conditioned office for the past year. I’ve dipped into this a few times since last year, and this time I’m using a piece that, when hydrated, fills the gaiwan between 1/3 and 1/2 full. I started with a flash rinse, let the tea hydrate/wet a bit, then have been enjoying a series of quick, hot infusions—the Pino is set to 205, and I’ve been infusing 10-20 seconds, and mostly drinking them down very quickly. Lots of herbaceous flavor, sweetness, anise, but little outright bitterness. It’s just delicious, and again, the biggest problem I foresee with this aging experiment may be trying to drink it sparingly enough to keep some around for a long time.

2006 Lao Man E Raw - This just arrived from China. Is a little wet and has some warehouse smell. It is a good tea but need some time to stable down.

Wild White Puerh Bud - Flowish Sweet taste. Doesn't at all taste like puerh. More towards flower (rose) tea kind of taste

2011 Xia Guan Golden Melon FT 100g vs 250g - Few of us tasted it and agrees that though the name is same, but the taste is different. 100g seems younger, and 250g seems slightly older/smoother. Both gives the very typical XiaGuan smokey smell and taste. If is quite strong tea. A good keep for aging.
