Definitely under the same umbrella but I don't think the teas are the same.

Interestingly, my spyware blocker did not care for this site ... and issued an instant alert.

I am with Tim here. I have been to three of the U.S. locations their. Chinese tea usually says "Ten Fu". Taiwanese Tea usually says "Ten Ren".

In any case, if one can get their '1000', it is delicious.

Balhyocha. A Korean tea that is supposed to be semi-oxidized like oolong and fits here rather than in other genres. My tasting notes:
Wiry, small, dark twisted leaves. Aroma of citrus and spice. Deep honey/amber color in the cup. Lemony, floral flavor with a hint of dryness in the mouth. Full mouth flavor with crisp finish. Closer to a Darjeeling in taste than any other tea I've had. Is it a black tea disguised? Many infusions. No astringency. Warming. Felt in the solar plexus.

Damn. They finally figured out how to put MSG into the tea's DNA.

Ten Fu is the Same as Ten Ren I believe? I'll have to pick some up for giggles next time I'm there.
I understand that they own Ten Ren. This is the largest TGY producer in China. I was quite shocked to taste such a delicious tea. They have a grading system which I don't understand. This tea comes in 10/11g vacuum packed packets. It was a gift to me. It is not their ordinary TGY. It's on the expensive side in China.
They are (probably) the largest TGY seller, but they are not producer. They mostly do buy and sell.
It's possible that this style fits your taste the best. In China even the modern greener style TGY has a few different styles. 1000 is only their middle range price. That's why I think their buyers are crazy  But they do have good quality control and service.

I have read that they also own farms. If the '1000' is middle grade, I would like to try their '3000'. :)

will someone correct me if i am wrong about this. i had learned that "ten ren" was started by chinese nationals who left china for taiwan at the time of the chinese revolution. later - in order to operate in china, they had to create a chinese company "ten fu" because of limited relations between the two countries.

That was my understanding as well. I was just saying that in the U.S. under the name "10 Tea" they sell both brands.

I think it's more accurate to say that there are a lot of Tian Ren / Tian Fu franchises here, and they all carry different sets of products (some of the packaged stuff is also found in supermarkets). All the stores I've seen here are named one or the other (or sometimes both next to each other).

I believe "10 Tea" is just an online retailer focusing on the US market.

Oh, that might be right. I thought Ten Tea was the name of the international operation, but I am probably wrong.

Adagio's #8. Still not impressed, but the very Fall leafy flavor fits the weather and season.

I have never seen Tian Ren nor Tian Fu. I've come across several Ten Ren shops which like Ed says is the parent company of Ten Fu and according to WIkipedia:
Uncle Lee's Tea Inc. - Official website
TenTea.com - Official website
TenRenUSA.com - Official website
Cha for Tea - Official website
T&A Tea - Official website

Same thing... just different romanization. Tian Ren is just the more standard pinyin for 天仁 (vs. "Ten Ren").
