Presently enjoying Florent/flonihoncha (thanks TO) Asatsuya fukamushi sencha (2010), 65°C/70" - 70°C/30" - 75°C/1' - 80°C/2'.
Very very long lasting and sweet.

very sweet and longlasting, with flavors of pear as written in Florent's description...a meditative tea in the silent morning...
Chip and David : you write Asatsuya...you mean Asatsuyu ?

Asatsuya is the feminine version of Asatsuyu.Lionel wrote:Chip and David : you write Asatsuya...you mean Asatsuyu ?

Thanks for pointing that out lionel !
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Even better.... asatsuyu means 'morning dew' (asa is morning, tsuyu is dew).
Tsuya on the other hand can mean a rainy night... or a gloss/glaze... or it can also mean a vigil that one does over a dead body.

This was pretty much US firms, or firms with a USA division. But there were foreign firms as well, but only 2 Japanese tea specialists. One is smaller and HQ oriented. The other is focused on being HUGE, I think they are the largest supplier of matcha worldwide, so they say.Tead Off wrote:Yes, he is flonihoncha.Chip wrote:Nice looking Asatsuya, David! I have only been on this site once or twice. This guy is a member of TC?
Chip, what is the tea fest like in Philly? Are there actual Japanese vendors exhibiting or is it all US based firms?
Being the first expo in Philly, it was a pretty good start, but a drop in the bucket compared to WTE in Vegas (same company owns both shows). The show in Vegas had as many Asia based vendors as USA based.

Quite a difference indeed !Drax wrote:Even better.... asatsuyu means 'morning dew' (asa is morning, tsuyu is dew).

Today, still with my Asatsuyu, but with slightly different parameters. beginning a bit warmer (70° instead of 65°) for a shorter time (60" opposed to 70"). The first brew was definitively disappointing. But the second (72° - 40") was really incredible !!!
Such a dilemma for the future sessions to come...

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Im having some Jukro Jungjak, doesn't seem to be anything super special, but still is nice.

6.5 grams of Everest Tea House tea.
A friend just came from Nepal and brought a small bag of it. Looks like machine harvested chopped up plantation fare, assam variety. With pushing the bitterness just does not lead to flavor...

Longjing tea. I got the lion variety with me which I purchased at TeaSpring.
It is currently spring in Australia and, oh boy, this tea is making an amazing effect on me. I got other greens but LJ one stands out.
I am going to place an order through JTS and compare the two.

Be sure to check out the OTTI some info on this OTTI here: http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 95#p207715

I did e-mail him, and he had the problem fixed right away. In addition, he was very quick to repond to my e-mails.David R. wrote:Ah ? I've never had a problem with this. Maybe you should email him.sherubtse wrote:I have been admiring his teas for some time, and will likely order in the near future. But there is a problem with his checkout page (it is not fully encrypted), so I'll wait until that is fixed before I order.
Best wishes,
sherubtse
If his teas are as good as his service, then his shop will quickly rise on my (very short) short-list of "go-to" Japanese tea vendors.

Best wishes,
sherubtse
P.S. Hope some of his teas are part of the impending OTTI sencha round.
