Re: NEW! Official Teaware of the Day!
Thanks, Adam! The fair cup isn't lumpy at all, and the teapot seems to have a slightly thicker application of glaze(s), so it has a nice satiny feel, and slight variations in the surface, but no real cracks or bumps, per se.AdamMY wrote: Love the glaze on the Teapot and Fair Cup! Just curious is it "lumpy" or does it only look 3D/ textured?
Re: NEW! Official Teaware of the Day!
Broke out some of my favorite pieces for a classic winter tea session. Sadly it is still no where near as white outside as I am used to for this far north.
But here is a Deishi Gunomi full of yummy yummy Gyokuro.

The beak peaking from the corner of the photo is a Kashun Houhin which is similar to the ones Chip has been posting lately.

Just being drinking whites and yellows today with this little set up.
That cup on the left is a lovely japanese cup. So simple but has the most amazing proportions.

I like that kyusu. How does it affect mouthfeel/flavour etc?

Re: NEW! Official Teaware of the Day!
It actually is very comfortable--it's nice to cup the palms around the bottom part when it's cold out. I will admit, I had my doubts, especially after seeing how big it was--it's about the same size as the average yunomi--but the pinched waist feels nice and natural in the hand. And it also helps keep heat in a bit, so that even when I only fill the cup halfway, the tea seems to stay hot longer than I would have expected from thin-walled porcelain. It is goofy-looking, though, I will admit! A friend of mine called it my 'Jabba the Hutt' cup.Alex wrote:That cup is bonkers. What does it feel like in the hand?

Great Teaware of the Days! Thanks everyone for sharing.
Been breaking out the rough Shigaraki Kyusu by Tachi Masaki more lately than ever. Mystery sencha in Deishi Guinomi-s.

Petr-Yaki Shiboridashi set ... dark brown with lighter accents. Quite sharp looking. Perfect for 2 ounce steeps of Gyokuro.

Brewed Gyokuro really exceptionally well.

More tea? Would I ever say no to more tea? Oh yeah, and the teaware I am using, for nearly the end of my Tenryu.

Still brewing Tenryu? I'm nearing the bottom of my bag, but it's started to go stale, or at least lose the magic it once had.
