Gee, along with my order, Jim included a one-shot sample of 2007 Mengsa Arbor Cake from the Huanglong Mountain Tea Factory. I am enjoying the sample quite a bit. At $13.60 for a 357 gram cake, I have added it to the shopping list for my next order. Pretty strong flavor, not too rough but still assertive, nice viscosity, plenty of cha qi, and pretty tolerant of my erratic brewing style. Nothing too fancy, but it has enough character that I think it may age well, and it's pretty nice now as well!

Sometimes the fanciful wrapping and the box containers make the puerh more appealing. Looking at yours gave me that impression.
Growing up I used to get firecrackers around new year's eve and they came wrapped up similar to those tuo boxes in your picture, actually the biggest cherry bomb was contained inside it.

Are you guys familiar with the Flickr Pu'er tea community? If not you should really give it a go. Quick signup, and it's a good way to keep track of what you have. I'm constantly forgetting what year something is, and when I need to check I just look it up on my Flickr page. Great community, some great pictures as well. Tea porn is always great to look at!

No idea about the Daves, although I hadn't noticed that until now. Maybe there's a conspiracy?
I'm teajournaling. I never post pictures of samples I've had, if I did that, I'd spam the thing constantly. I've probably gone through more money in samples three times over than actual cakes and tuo cha's that I've purchased in the past year alone! My regular camera crapped out on me a little bit ago, so I've been using my camera phone. The pictures are not that great, but at least I get an idea of colors so that when I reopen these cakes a few years down the line, I can see how much they've really aged.
