Bread Bar (close by, in the mall) is actually pretty decent.bearsbearsbears wrote: BTW, we can save time (and aggravation in splitting a bill) by eating at the mall food court where lupicia is.

Thanks!
I just wanted to thank all of the LA area tea chatters for coming out today. I was only able to join the group at Tea Habitat (Imen is a very generous hostess!), but I had a great time and it was lovely to meet you all face to face! I hope we can arrange a similar tea crawl sometime soon.

As I posted on TeaDay I just now got home from the LA TEA MEET, we had a such a great time! Some great teas, new friends, some awesome shopping and delicious food!
It was just great. Too many teas to list. Imen from Tea Habitat was so gracious and accommodating! I will not even attempt to list them here. We all felt very comfortable and completely made ourselves at home. It was great she opened early for us, we were there from a little after 10:00 till about 1:30.
Next stop was the mall where Lupicia was located, but first we had a great lunch on the outdoor patio of the food court. Good food and conversation, getting to know each other better. Then on to Lupicia - A very tiny store! But they were so welcoming and made sure to offer us plenty of teas to try, even making matcha for us.
Next - on to Hankook Teas. We were all impressed by their beautiful collection and presentation of teaware! They also accommodated us, and made several teas fro us to try. I think we all agree the Yellow tea was very good, and several of us purchased that tone. Buy now we were running an hour late on our schedule so we decided to skip Ten Ren and go directly to Wing Hop Fung.
Wing Hop Fung was huge and we went a little crazy admiring all the teaware choices! Japanese and Chinese in one place, there was so much stuff, we were there quite awhile and they had to kick us out as it was closing time!! In addition to teawear, I found my long sought after Canadian Ice Wine. So I was quite a happy camper!!
From there a few of the committed shoppers decided we were hungry again (teaware shopping is exhausting!) And went to dinner at a local Chinese vegetarian restaurant that was amazingly delish!
Six TeaChat Members + friends = a really great time.

Ha! I remembered and got you a sample of one of the greens. We tried the yellow, the Hwang, and their Chrysanthemum then a green which I missed as I was busy buying teaware!

You can post the pics, we don't have to label who is who unless they want towyardley wrote:I have some pictures from today... how do folks feel about me posting them to the board? Anyone object to their photo being posted publicly?

My shots prob turned out horrid at Imens but we shall see!
I had a really good time and I think we all got some loot from the last shop. Which some ended up with as much wine as teaware. We had fun and next time I plan a trip I will give a little more generous time for each place, it got too late for Ten Ren.
All in all, we converted another tea nerd to our cause, drank some nice teas, and had a lot of fun. All the places we stopped at, the shop owners/hosts were nice. Imen lined us up with some aged teas I would not usually get try. The manager(?) at Lupicia showed how to make a good matcha and had a tip on the tea ceremony. The hostess at Hankook provided samples of Taiwan teas. And we ended at Wing Hop Fung where we got some nice (inexpensive) teaware, tea and wine.
