Thank you Takarabune.
Sorry John, I would absolutely love such a pursuit, but I am
far away in California!
I do occasionally peruse the Berkeley Ceramics studio on saturdays tho.
cheers.

Nice!
I've been looking for a nice wooden chashaku, but haven't had any luck.
Love the gecko enjoying the tea!

Do you and the Gecko ever compete over the tea? I know how greedy they can be and would worry about them drinking all my matcha.

I haven't had any problems with that yet, but I'll watch him more carefully from now on... I've noticed that he's sometimes sneaking about staring hungrily at my gyokuro too

You have to be careful! Gecko's are notorious tea hogs! Before you know it, you'll be out of tea and then it'll leave you for someone else who has more tea.

New chawan from
Ginkgo.
I usually stick to japanese potters, but I could not resist this one !
Touch is incredible. Its beauty will monopolize your eyes for a long time, so many details and layers. It makes a funny noise when pouring hot water in it, like a pill which would effervesce. And finally it seems like it will evolve rapidly.
Long story short, I am happy.

Hagi ware kensui (wastewater bowl) by Yamane Seigan, featuring a sleeping hukurou (owl). I thought this would be the place to post/share, since it is a part of Chanoyu.

After looking at all these Chawan, that I'd post one of mine. It was made by our own Chicago Potter, Chris Chaney. It was one of the SO's and I really love it. It's crackles are starting to darken, so I thought I'd show a photo of that. They are quite faint, but they are definitely there.
Thanks again Chris!

Nice chawan David! Congrats. I had a new Jay Strommen that hissed and crackled with the addition of hot water and it did so for several sessions. It's singing to you! It must like you very much.
Beautiful kensui Takarabune, love that owl. Very very nice indeed.
IPT - gorgeous, evenly devoloping crackling! So very nice.
You've all inspired me to run for the cam.
Today's breakfast matcha:
cheers.
