"Touching the moon" is a marvelous shape. I'm curious about the size--is it a teabowl, or a smaller teacup with saucer?

(or even a gaiwan that broke its lid because it preferred to be a cup?)

The size is somewhere between cup and bowl. Or it is too small for rice so it is cup, 140ml. And you are right. There is lid for that piece. Not broken but much nicer without the lid...as I write there: Born from imperfection:)

Since I've finally found the strength to definitively resist this marvelous little tea set, I should point out that there are a new lovely crop of Petr's wares up on darjeeling.cz (follow link above and drool at your own risk).

As I am still pretty much not live online, some of you may think that I am enjoying another holiday. Lying on a Caribbean beach, sucking mojito by pinky straw...well, those who think that are wrong. We are heavily and happily working on big, chalanging order. Even that there is still some new teaware, there is not much time to share it online. It will soon over...for now, here are two new pots, just few hours out of the kiln...

As always: beautiful!! I'm the happy owner of one of your shiboridashi which I bought in Cajovna Probuzleny Slon in Brno. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos!

I'm still trying to come up with a way to describe the weird and wonderful appearance of the second pot--not as classically beautiful as the second--it's like something encrusted in accretions of rust and barnacles brought up from a shipwreck (or otherwise from under the sea, like these beams from a harbor construct of some kind:
).
But none of those words give the same pleasing impression of antiquity and wonderfulness as the pot's glaze.

The first pot is easier to describe--subtle gradations and then a kiss of ash and flame striping the side.

Oh wow--that's a stunning piece! I'm in awe! And I love your blog entry on charcoal stoves and teakettles ... it definitely made me wish I had the space and time to expand my tea enthusiasm out in that direction.

Just out of curiosity, how would one order one of your kettles or Mirka's stoves? Do they all go straight to your retail customers, or do you pretty much have to preorder them?

Thank you! These top handle kettles were born from a wish of my close friend. First, I had some sruggle to find a way how to do it to my satisfaction. It is still not 100% but I am supriced how confortable these handles are. Even with bigger kettle, one can keep some elegency when pouring hot water in to small teapot.

Just out of curiosity, how would one order one of your kettles or Mirka's stoves?

This piece was fired in sagar, kind of pit firing, with different reduction materials around.

Oh WOW. That's beautiful! There are no words .... I told myself I didn't need a charcoal stove, and yet I have to ask--is that one already sold?

charcoal stove seems to be sort of thing you can easily do without. Unless you try. Then you will think how you could live without it
Those new stoves are not only (ultimately) practical but also very beautiful. Some I saw personaly so I can ensure (with a bit a jealousy) - they look even better in reality.
