Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Xi Hu Long Jing from Norbu, in a kyusu, drinking from my larger Seigan blue cup. Happy tea, happy teaware, just wish I were not at work while enjoying it!

Drinking O-Cha's Organic Kirishima Sencha Gold. I know they haven't had it for a very long time, but I think this is one of the best teas in their entire lineup this year!
I'm currently enjoying it in a lovely cup by Bill Perrine (Split-Fire Pottery) (2nd steep pictured).

It says "light-medium" steaming on their website. It leans a little more towards medium steaming I'd say, though about 50% of the dry leaves are intact, nicely shaped needles. As you can see, it does get quite green. There's no fuka-like powder though.
Has anyone had the Silver yet? How did you like that one?

Yes. I just replied to your post in the Yame/Kagoshima topic. It took a few steeps to come to terms with the Silver as it is not overtly veggie nor grassy. It wants to be sweet. Quite nice once I understood this. Faint cocoa notes. At times a bit floral.Stentor wrote:Has anyone had the Silver yet? How did you like that one?
Beautiful Bill cup, thanks for sharing. There is currently a Bill TA SO going on ... http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=16446
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Last of the Sencha Kabuko, now all the sencha I have is from the 2011 harvest.
Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Kagoshima sencha (Kanayamidori) from YC. A very sweet and mellow asa. Nice change of pace.

I-Cha's Warashina sencha this am, and had a nice start sharing some Honyama sencha at work yesterday AM. Sencha is gradually making itself at home in more of my brew-locales....

I-Cha? I am guessing you mean O-Cha which means you have some vintage stock.debunix wrote:I-Cha's Warashina sencha this am ...

Sounds good. Maybe like a simpler version of the "Gold" which would make sense considering the distinction and price difference between the two.Chip wrote:It took a few steeps to come to terms with the Silver as it is not overtly veggie nor grassy. I'm probably going to give the "Silver" a try soon, though I have ordered some more of O-Cha's new organics and it might take me the rest of the year to get through those.
I'm quite hooked on the "Gold".

It's really my favorite so far this year.
I'm simply doing 70° C (preheated kyusu) at just below 1 minute with it, nothing special. Second slightly hotter water, steep for like 2-5 seconds.

Re: What GREEN are you currently drinking?
Another lovely session with the Warashina sencha from O-Cha. This is probably the best one yet, now down to sweet water, but delicious sweet water, up to the 8th infusion or thereabouts, so nice.

Still have some Silver. And just opened Tamaryokucha Gokujo from Xell a few days ago. It is really quite a nice Guricha.
Also have recently opened the Yume no Ukihashi Gyokuro from O-Cha.
So a nice diverse group of Japanese greens.
Also, some samples arrived recently. Temomicha from Kaburagien, Gyokuro Yamashita-Jirushi from Maiko, and 2 different premium Long Jing. Thanks to a TCer!!!

I will! Though it will not be apples to apples exactly since the TCer has given me pretty extreme brewing directions.iannon wrote:mm..jirushi is yummy! hows that temomicha compare to what I had?

hello noesis,NOESIS wrote: I like this YM very much. Quite bold and not as finicky as other YMs that I've had. Don't know if it's due to the "kyoumushi" steaming rather than the usual fukamushi.
the shimofuri arrived and at the moment i'm brewing it for the first time.
the 1st steep already blows me away

i used the same amount of tea like you, but i brewed it a bit cooler( 147 degrees) and only for 30seconds.
i hope the second brew is as good as the first one!
