That is a really spectacular Kashun, you did extremely well for the price!!!
I will want to see that a year from now, I bet it ages beautifully.

Tomorrow, I will try and remember to snap a pick of my Kashun piece... lets just say if yours behaves like mine, it will probably look like your most used piece by the time you get your first Shincha. (Provided you brew in it semi regularly at least once or twice a week).

Hello.
I have 2 Seigans. One is an AO HAGI and the other is an ONI HAGI matcha chawan.
The Oni Hagi one leaked like a beast

But 3 teas from the first use and now it only slightly moists - it has character

Cool! Just another part of the appeal of Hagi-Yaki, each piece ages differently. Can't wait to see the photos!

Yeah, character is a good word. And the character is not a fixed in time element. I find that the leakers definitely seem to progress along the "7 stages of Hagi" at a greatly quickened pace.
Looking at the one Deishi Biwa leaker, and one that does not, both used about the same amount. The leaker is looking like a heavily seasoned old man. So much character at such a young age.
I would place this leaker at stage 3 ... approaching 4.
Thanks Buz for sharing your leaker. I think I saw that one, great find! Thanks everyone for contributing to this discussion ... please continue.

As promised pictures of the outside of My Kashun Yunomi... I have had it roughly a month and probably only used it 5 or 6 times (as I basically ran out of Sencha). But wow, did it age quickly....

yes prior to each use I fill it up with water while the kettle boils, then use as normal while the kettle boils. Its what I do to try and get some water in the pieces prior to use. But this one amazed me, I think the first time I used it it was weeping, and has basically every time since.
The only piece that is anywhere close to this in looks has to be my Sansai Teb, I was going to try and take a picture but its one of those things that the cracks on the outside do not show up as well in photos as they do to the eye, so the photos didn't really show any staining on the outside.

wow..My Blue Teb has no weeping or anything and I use it every day. Whats the inside of that KAshun like? I may not see the same with my pot since the inside has a clear glaze applied

I am thinking the Sansai Tebineri is more prone to weeping versus the Ao Tebineri. I base this more on intuition than anything.
Yeah, let's see the inside, Adam.

nice..my Deishi cups have a very similar look after even a few uses. I am now pretty sure my pot wont do this though as the inside isnt the same glazing as the outside. the inside is a smooth clear evenly applied glaze as opposed to the thick uneven white glazing.

This must be pretty common with Hagi Kyusu/Houjin, me thinks.
