Thank you Andrzej for reporting this event, I felt really honored to be part of the exhibition at first place and really happy when I heard the news that one of my teapot was given The Judge's Choice price. I'm excited to have just ordered one of Petr's teapots! Now the wait for it to be shipped from overseas...

I've got some experimenting to do when it arrives since the inside is unglazed, and I'll try to post photos down the road. I'm open to suggestions of what to try!

It should be endlessly interesting in use, with all of the swirls and subtle variations in color and tone and I bet the clay will be porous enough to permit some interesting staining to eventually work through to the exterior. Neat-o!

Sorry for that mistake! I was on the phone with Dan from the eshop, we hope you will enjoy the teapot anyway! I actually really like how this piece turn out in the fire, I was supriced that it was there as the last teapot out there...Looking forward to hear your impresions! Thank you for your support.

Petr, I'm sure I'll enjoy the teapot! I've been wanting one of your pots for quite awhile now, and reading your story about the visit to Sun Moon Lake awhile back only strengthened that! I'm looking forward to its arrival. I'll post photos of it in action asap!

My teapot arrived today. Thanks, Petr, for creating such a beauty, and thanks to Klasek Tea for shipping it to the US from CZ quickly and safely. As soon as I got it home from the post office I brewed up a pot of the oolong sample they sent along with it. Here are some photos:

Looks like it is quite a handy size, destined for versatility. It will be very interesting to see whether the outer crazing will stain over time.

I would rather call it “gather patina and character”, staining sounds a bit negative, doesn’t it?

Patina does sound nicer, but I've been watching the delightful progress of staining of the crackles on my teawares for a few years now, and always check the changes on a lovely Petr cup I gave to an office companion when I share tea with her. It's gathering character nicely as the tea patina builds in the crazing....

From my experience, there are two ways which teaware is going, similar to tea (or people), there is Aging and Getting Old. Some pots are getting better by use, from aesthetic or "tea enhancing" poin of view, or (at best) from both. But some pots are very nice when bright new, loosing its magic over time. Both things happens to my pieces and I actually stop to using some glazes, clays because I was not happy what they do over time...

Anyway, just for fun, one shot of my tea table from few days back. With new Simon Levin's tray as teabot...

Love both pictures--can't wait to see how the pot turns out! Though I will confess, I'd be afraid of leaving tea stains on such lovely table runners.
