I barely managed to escape with three yixing teapots from the 80s (from Daniel's behind the counter stash to the surprise of his wife), a roughly 20 year old charcoal roasted Tie Guan Yin, a 1990 roasted Shui Xian, two cakes of 1980's Menghai 7542 and quite a lot less money but it was well worth it.
I probably tasted that menghai last time I was up - it's pretty tasty - worth the money imho (you don't drink the fonts.. ;P )

Going up there early next month - looking forward to it!

Tea becomes essentially worthless after 20 years. However, all is not lost- I do some historical research into tea, so would be happy to take these older ones off your hands. I would even pay for shipping if you wish.

A wonderful box of goodies arrived today from China Cha Dao. Lots of Douji, some Zhi Ming Du, and a little Changtai.

What is the tibetan beeng like ? how can it be dated to 1962 ?
The Pu is very flavorful still, full of Qi and when holding the tea in my hands, I can feel the power of it. I never thought I would ever utter those words..... The owner of my local tea shop has been collecting for many years and this is one of the first he purchased.

The other day he was kind enough to share a 1949 with me. He has some 1938, but I have not seen it surface yet. 8)

On the offer of shipping my older stuff to you for research, I will offer this..... If you are in the SF Bay Area, we can meet and share some tea. Thanks for offering to take it off my hands...

Where did this tea come from? This "60s" bing is most definitely not from the 60s....

Is this stuff from Chaikhana in Santa Cruz? This is the only place I can think of in that area who would sell stuff with those kinds of claims.

Mountain View Tea Shop. He has been there for over 25 years. So if it isn't as advertised, then what is it? I guess the good news is I can return it.

And if I read correctly, you are saying the Tibetan Mushroom is a XG? Out of curiosity, what is the value of this one?

A little picture of the neifei of the mushroom would tell us more.

As for the "60s cake", well, it's definitely post 1996. Exactly when, I don't know, but if that's 60s, I have a lot of 60s cake to sell you. I'd return it tomorrow.

If you can return items like these, then it's wonderful. Let us know what the outcome is.
