Tuesday TeaDay 6/30/09 First half of 2009?

by Chip » Jun 30th, '09, 01:06

Greetings and salutations everyone. Please stop in to TeaDay and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday more than 85% of responders indicated at least 85% satisfaction with their open teas. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. 6 months have come and gone in 2009. While we are rating things, please rate the first half of your TeaYear. Would you say it has met your expectations if any that you had conceived back in January? Please share ...

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone today ... eh ... sharing the remainder of the TeaYear. Bottoms up.

I'm at the 90% satisfaction level, including with this year's re-order of Bai Sha Lu from the Island of Hai Nan, a Chinese green that is supposedly steamed like Japanese greens. The result is nothing like Japanese greens, but it is an enjoyable, inexpensive Chinese green. The plate is neither Chinese nor Japanese but English, made by Royal Crown Derby.

Wow, weird. So far this morning everybody has pegged at 90%, and so did I. Hm.

It's been pretty good tea-wise. But sometimes getting TO the tea is less than what I would hope.

This morning, oolong again. I think I'll be having oolongs all week...

Nice pic Sal! Love the rich colors against the black.

I'm going with 90%. I was hoping the '09 Spring Oolongs would
blow me away this year, but they haven't totally met my expectations.
The '09 FF Darjeelings on the other hand, which were supposed to not
be so good this year, have really made up the gap. Many have been
quite excellent.

Drax I'm with you - more oolongs all week. Starting the day with
Floating Leaves Tea Baozhong - Honorable Mention.

Have a nice day everyone!

Since my answer to yesterday's poll was "100% satisfied", I have to choose "100% satisfied" today.

Organic Asamushi Sencha "Warashina Supreme" this afternoon.

I would have to say that I'm pretty satisfied, but I always want something just a little better.

Started with the last of a white tea this morning and after it was gone switched to a jasmine pearl.

about 90% for me. So far this year the puerh pirces have seemed to be very reasonable and from what I heart should be good quality, just put an order in for a bunch of it so we will see.

I'm 95% happy with my tea life these six months, the only drawbacks have been one or two occasions of 'tea ennui' when for some unknown reason nothing excites me when it comes to tea. I can have the same sort of experince with food, infrequently. Or music, which is perhaps the most depressing imho.

Today so far-Yunnan and right now a bag of green jasmine flavoured tea I found in the workplace kitchen. Very weird and has a metallic taste but at least it kept me from the coffee. I've definitely decided to lay off the coffee. =)

No expectations at all.

Couldn't vote - didn't have any expectations for the tea year. However, I can say with a bit of satisfaction that the second quarter showed vast improvement in comparison to the start of the year.

Kenilworth in my cup.

I think I'll be having oolongs all MONTH thanks to the box pass!

My vote will be 95%, I've only ordered a few teas so far this year and had only a couple that I didn't really like.

Irish Breakfast this morning.

My year so far has been one of new discoveries... new tea houses, tea sources, rediscovering new teas from old friends, even new teas I'd never heard of in my quest and new-found love of black teas. So I'd say it's surpassed my expectations and I'm enjoying it

Haven't started my tea yet today! Hmmm...time to choose!

I think I'm going to go with 95%. I've been happy with everything except one or two oolongs that were way to flowery for my taste.
It's been a lot of fun trying different types of teas and further exploring the ones I really like.

MMMMMMM Kirameki this morning w/DH, currently in my cup Samabeong FF Darjeeling.

I really cannot place a vote since TBH I did not have any TeaExpectations at the beginning of the year.
However, that being said, I am most satisfied with the teas that the Mod has chosen to share with me. 8) {Guess it's a good thing that I like GREENS, huh?}

Have a TEArrific TeaDay Everyone and enjoy many brews.

How bout... 80%? Overall, really awesome. I wish I would have purchased a wider variety of tea and bought some awesome tea gear

95% satisfied.

I dove into Japanese greens this year and they were ALL good, plus I enjoyed several that left me speechless (Zencha's Ultimate Sencha and Ultimate Gyokuro, and Habiki-an's Pinnacle Sencha).

And I've been drinking great YanCha and Dancong from Jing and Hou de and Teaspring, so my TeaLife has been very good this year. My only dissappointments have been with non-Chinese Oolong.

Jing's traditional Da Hong Pao this morning, with Sugimoto SA Sencha in a few minutes, and possibly O-Cha's Tsuru-Jiru-Shi gyo as a mid-afternoon treat.
