Greetings TeaFans. Welcome to TeaDay. Please stop in and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday we discussed the first 6 months of TeaYear 2009 on a quiet day on TeaChat. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. It is a new month, but what was your fave tea of last month. Details, details, details.
I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Takumi yame shincha with dried apricots
How could it have been anything other than Japanese shincha? Actually, in my case I also had a great time with several of the less elegant Japanese teas as well ... but shincha the highlight.

Last month's best tea has to be the marked-down kukicha I found a while ago. An unexpected find I definitely will be buying again.
Had a cup of Fortnum & Mason's Royal Blend before rushing out the door today.
Right now some more Yunnan in front of me, and I'm planning to make my colleague some TGY just because I'm so excited about the Funalliance sample I have.

Most certainly a shincha green from Japan. Trying to think which reigned supreme, but there were pretty many very good ones, so I will have to think about it today.
Began the TD with one very good shincha, Yutaka Midori, this is a bit more challenging this year, but I feel I really nailed it today. SweeTea would agree while Wulong, Ceylon, TEAh, Pyrit, and Gandalf checked out the TeaTable happenings.
Enjoy the TeaDay, enjoy the day.

Having a cup of masala chai, cinnamon/cloves/peppercorns/cardamom/ginger mix instead of the usual ginger/cardamom mix. Pretty good! Probably sae midori next since its nearly finished, surprised how long it has lasted. Off to study electric fields while listening to some mogwai-christmas steps CHECK IT OUTTTTTT WEEE! Everyone have a bad day! jk
My two faves were dancong, Hou de's 2007 Winter Old Bush "Ba Xian" and 2007 Spring Lin-Tou "Mi Lan". The Ba Xian is exceptional, but I'm also a real sucker for the medium roasting in the Lin-Tou.
I've only tasted one shincha so far (YM). The next one opened will be the Takumi.
I have really enjoyed the Sugimoto SA sencha. It's inexpensive and it has a wonderful sweetness that I haven't yet been able to describe. Very nicely crafted.
The Tsuru-Jiru-Shi is delicious, but I haven't quite gotten it to ``pop''. I've been using a 4:3 ratio of leaf to water at 140F for 120 seconds, but it seems to prefer a slighter higher temperature.
