Happy 4th of July to those celebrating ...

Welcome everyone to TeaDay. Please stop by often and share what is in your cup today!

Yesterday responders indicated they would take their tea with them when on vacation. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. What tea will fill your TeaDay with fireworks this Independence Day? Please share with us.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Happy 4th of July to those in the States!

I wish I could say pu'erh, but I've dedicated myself to oolongs all week...

And that would also be what's in my cup this morning, then! :D

No 4th of July celebration here, but there will be green tea, Chinese green tea to be specific :)

Gonna go brew some Tai Ping Hou Kui now.

I wish you all a happy 4th of July :D

Black! They didn't dump no fancy green tea in Boston Harbor, ya know!

Yunnan Gold in the pot, still steeping.

So I was in WM yesterday, doing the grocery shopping. The tea aisle there now carries Twinings English and Irish Breakfast, and Earl Grey. There are also several varieties of herbal, bagged green, Stash, and Tazo teas. As I stood there the woman behind me was muttering in annoyance that she didn't understand why "you couldn't just get plain tea anymore." I didn't answer.

Happy 4th Everyone!

I voted black because I've already had some iced tea, but I am also planning to dig into the Oolong samples from the box pass.

We can see our town's fireworks from our lane so I will probably bring some tea out with me while we watch them.

Reine:

Bringing a gallon of iced Kenilworth Ceylon to a barbecue. For the Luddites I'm bringing sugar. Put in enough sugar, and you can make it taste like "regular" tea.

Sencha the Ultimate from Zencha set off fireworks for me this morning. Excellent. SweeTea saw the fireworks as well while Koi was being as much of a pain as possible.

Later at a family picnic I tried Zencha's sample teabag that they include with orders. Very good, but O-Cha's still reigns supreme!
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

No celebrations obviously(wishing those among you that do celebrate a happy day) but there's been a LOT of tea today.

Two pots of Ceylon to start off, I decided to dedicate the weekend to Shugo Chara! streaming on CR so I've been in for most of the day-just as well since the weather could make anyone think it's April =O -

Then another pot of mystery tea from a Korean restaurant I like, I'm not even sure if it's supposed to be oolong or black...

Bit of shopping in the early afternoon(why is it that you alway run out of shampoo/shower gel/washing up liquid etc at the same time? It never fails) after which I took my kyusu to my parents' and made two pots of asamushi. partly to find some brewing parameters to recommend to my Mum since it's her tea, partly to get to taste it myself.

Pretty good even though I'm not totally sure of how it's really supposed to taste. :)

Two more pots of shincha when I got home, then I decided I had to lay off the tea for a little while but now I feel about ready for a cup of something or other. Decisions, decisions...

May all our TeaChatter friends in the States enjoy MAGNIFICENT fireworks today!

This morning was tea ceremony class. We're doing kinindate again. That's a procedure for serving matcha to a "nobleman", and it requires the use of a tenmoku chawan - tenmoku in this case referring more to the conical shape of the teabowl than to its glaze:

Image

It's challenging to pour the rinse water out, though, because of the very flat and shallow koudai (foot) that is characteristic of this teabowl type. I'm always terrified that it'll slip, fall, and crack against the waste-water container. Luckily that hasn't happened yet!

Beautiful bowl, chamekke!

Today, started with just a sip of coffee (as usual. Hubby makes a 1/2 pot, and leaves me a 1/2 cup because I LOVE the taste, but too much coffee gives me hot flashes. I know, TMI!) Then, on to oolong, because I had some iced oolong left - a cold-brewed bai hao that Shuiwen at Floating Leaves Tea roasted herself. Yummy!

Next was matcha. Pictures might appear soon in other sections of teachat. (New bowl.)

In a few minutes, I'll make more iced oolong to go with our bbq chicken. Yay!

Happy Independence Day!

(This made me giggle.)
