Monday Tour de Thé Day Part Un 7/06/09

by Chip » Jul 6th, '09, 00:24

Welcome ThéFriends to ThéDay. Please come one, come all, and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday was a free for all day along with a poll. You can still vote and discuss.

July is Tour de France month, and with the 2nd comeback attempt of Lance Armstrong, it seems more interest is generated ...at least in the USA.

Following the TdF theme, are you on a personal Tour de Thé ... or have you arrived at your ThéOrigin/Destination? In other words, do you focus on Thé from a single origin, or are you all over the ThéMap, per se?

I am looking forward to sharing ThéDay with everyone. "Get on your bikes and ride" ... and drink Thé. (Queen)

Me ... spread about as thin as possible! But I don't think I would ever want to settle down to one country or one region. The variety is a big part of what I value in tea.

Oooh, very interesting... quail? Nice color contrast w/ the tea, too.

I am also all over the map. Perhaps one day I will settle down to some favorite areas, but not for the foreseeable future.

My tea drinking has slowed down immensely in the last week, partly due to the weather. It's been on the warmer side, and I have been keeping the windows open (we're just on the border of needing the AC)...

In any case, I'm still enjoying some oolongs... and now I've got some kombucha fermenting on my counter (*cross my fingers*).

My Tour de Thé is well centered on the Fujian province, but with frequent excursions in all directions.

Dragon Well is just the thing today.

I thought I loved Assams, then I encountered Yunnan tea. Mmmmmmm....

PG Tips Special Blend in the mug this morning, the last of the box.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Since I'm of the 'try everything once' philosophy and have loved trying new things since before I could even speak(Mum has told me I used to make weird sounds in the supermarket whenever we passed the deli section, and that it meant I wanted gorgonzola) I seek out everything and anything that piques my interest. Hot on my list right now is the Japanese black at Yuuki-Cha. I've seen some Japanese oolongs from a Swedish vendor as well...very curious about those.

As for a theme to this Tour...none I have noticed so far. I just let the road take me wherever it will.

I'm all over the place! Mainly within the realm of Japanese, Chinese, and Taiwanese. I always seem to go back to Japanese greens though... Den's Shin-ryoku in my cup today.

No specific origin here... I consider myself to be on a multi-cultural, ne' multi-ethnic journey through the most pervasive social and political and ethereal beverage on the planet. Tea is like no other phenomenon known to man. At once the most consumed beverage after basic H2o while simultaneously underappreciated by much of the worlds population. Quixotic but easily understood!

In my cup this morning: Turkish Delight from David's Tea.

Variety is the spice of life - I'm all over the map. 'Tis the only nonalcoholic beverage of worth (healthwise) with such wonderful variation.

No-name Ceylon Estate in the cup.

I'm all over the map, although I tend to return to India pretty frequently. There are so many teas out there to try, I don't see myself ever settling down to one area permanently.

No tea yet, but I will soon be enjoying a 4th infusion of Five Sweetheart Oolong from the box pass.

Today is our "official" 4th of July holiday from work, so I'm hoping to have a busy tea day!
