Thursday Tour de Thé 7/09/09 For the win?

by Chip » Jul 9th, '09, 00:22

Greetings TeaChatters. Please stop by and share with us what is in your cup today.

Yesterday most responders indicated they were on a Tour de ThéWare. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Following the Tour de Thé theme, perhaps to the extreme. In bicycling terms, what is your tea style? Have fun with this ... in other words, try not to take this too seriously.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone at our Tour de Thé. "Get on your bikes and ride" ... (Queen)

I'm no innovator. "Draft specialist" sitting in the slip stream, following the lead of others. I virtually always get a least one set of suggestions before brewing on my own.

Mmmm, the freshness dating on this must be expired.

Hrm, mountain climbing specialist perhaps? I more like the idea of mountain-biking specialist -- going off away from the crowd and not really caring :D

I'm continuing my trek w/ oolongs. Uh, I have to say that I really didn't enjoy that coconut pouchong at all. Maybe I don't eat enough coconut to really appreciate that "extra" taste that was overwhelming the tea? :D

As usual my two sides of the coin show through here. I'm probably more a time trialist. At least when doing things in an official manner, for just a cup to drink I just go with the flow.

Had some shincha earlier, forgot which one. New batch of iced tea tonight as well. Still cooling down though.

(Hi all, i've been kinda incognito for the past month or so, working on getting back to a normal routine)

I haven't voted yet. I don't know which option fits best.

In terms of the theme I guess I'd get disqualified from the race for, say, stopping at the roadside to look at tiny flowers for an hour or taking shortcuts because I liked the view. I may reach the finish line, but in my own way and my own time.

I'm not one to want to be part of a crowd but at the same time I'm uncomfortable being in the lead so I usually go off on my own.

Just got up. It's a little past noon here and I haven't slept this late for years and years. No tea yet, still deciding.

I haven't voted; can't figure out the options!

We brewed a pot of Assam Kongea Golden Buds this morning, but I don't think I like it very well. It's almost too sweet at the start and odd at the finish. I think Yunnan teas have spoiled me! :?

Not sure, probably a time trialist...

Matsukaze Uji Matcha from Lahloo to start the day, followed by Maiko Kinari Shincha. I think it shall be a Pu-Erh afternoon!

I picked Time Trialist. There are lots of things that I consider when I pick and prepare a tea. The leaf (freshness and amount to add), the vessels to brew or drink from, type and temp of the water, etc. But, so far in my tea journey I have found that I am more likely to majorly screw up a tea by accidentally oversteeping it than anything else. :?

Physical support specialist.

Did't care for the 'domestique' moniker. Tea infusion mechanics bears striking resemblance to chromatographic separation of a complex mixture; I'm just as interested in the process chemical-physics as the end result.

No-name but decent Taiwanese oolong to start my day.

I voted Draft Specialist, but I think with any new tea I am both a Draft Specialist and a Time Trialist. I usually come here for information on brewing different teas, and then am very 'by the book' until I'm comfortable.

Irish Breakfast this morning. Brewed Long Haul style.
