puerh temperature

what is the recommended temp for puerh cakes raw and cooked?

Hot, hot, hot generally.

Sometimes I find very young raw pu'erh can be better with a little cooler than boiling though.

I was once told by a Green tea expert that if you use boiling water it would kill off all the goodie healthy benefits that tea has to offer. Im assuming this has the same effect on Puerh aswell?

Always use boiling water. Puerh does not have the cleanest manufacturing process and there are many "things" like microorganisms in puerh, boiling water kills harmful bacteria that you dont want in you.

Actually, sheng is not as 'dirty' as shu. Most recommend using the hottest temp for shu for this reason. However, a slightly lower temp for aged sheng will do. In regards to young sheng, the rules for green tea should apply. After all, young sheng is green tea.
