Display Teaser

by Ghost of Tea » Feb 4th, '06, 00:03

Just wanted to share with y'all that teaspoon and I just brewed our first ever cups of display tea. My cup has the Adagio Red Bloom, and hers has the Adagio Jasmine Bloom. Watching the teas steep in the cups while the flowers unfolded. We were enthralled by how beautiful it was sharing the experience of something so masterful. I can imagine some sort of ancient tea masters sitting in a stone temple, practicing the art of creating beautiful and unique tea flowers. Truly remarkable. Thanks so much for enabling us to enjoy such a wonderful (and yummy) experience.

I did the same tonight too - they just came in the mail this afternoon! I have a 24oz or so glass teapot (I shall take pictures the next time I do this) and used two jasmine flowers - it was absolutely lovely. As much as my friends and I joked that we were having sea urchins, we really enjoyed it. Thanks so very much! [May I recommend, by the way, having fortune cookies with the jasmine? They do suit quite well]

Same here I tried the Jasmine Bloom tonight with camera in hand and plan on doing the same with the Red Bloom sometime soon. Nice to see that I wasn't the only one that the Valentines Day special was enough to push over the edge enough to finally buy the display teas in the 2 for 1 special. Here is what the Jasmine Bloom looked like for me.

[EDIT: I don't know why it came out fussy but if you click on the picture you will be able to see a clear version of it. ]

At the same time I'm not sure if it turned out right as the "cooler than boiling water" I used was too cool at first so I had to microwave it in the middle and lightly stir it with a spoon to get it to fully open and even then I'm not sure if the jasmine flowers opened properly. Next time I'm going to try using boiling water and take my chances with potentially bitter tea to see if it will open better and to take follow up pictures if that is the case. Still I must comment the taste as it was the first jasmine tea that I actually liked (the others were tea bags years ago) so I might have to try some samples of the normal non-display jasmine tea with my next order.

For the record, I preferred the Jasmine to the Red Bloom. The red was, to me, a little musty... a very masculine taste I think. Backed up by the fact that both Ghost and my dad liked it, and my mom and I weren't fond of it. But yeah now I need some glass teacups!

Ok - I fell for the teaser and had to get me some Display teas. I just wish I had J G's tea cup/saucer, how elegant.

Envious,

Cess

ps - would have liked to share the moment with Batman. Alas, I knew you and tsp were MFEO (from Sleepless in Seattle)

Ha, but its not my cup, I took one of the display tea packets to dinner at a relatives house and we watched it brew during desert. I actually bought a Luminous tea cup from Adagio to photograph the display teas.

I'm sure it will look real nice in your new Luminous cup as well. Please share photo again.

Yeah, I want to get glass teacups now too, I just can't decide whether I want the Luminous or the Tulip cups!

LoL Cess! I've never seen Sleepless in Seattle, but now I'll have to look that up. The Bat is awfully sexy, isn't he? One of my fav superheroes :)

Teaspoon, I wouldn't call the Red Bloom a masculine taste, like you I enjoyed the Jasmine Bloom but didn't think that highly of the Red Bloom. I even tried making it drinkable with two teaspoons of sugar but it still wasn't drinkable so I poured it down the drain and made myself a pot of pu erh instead. Regardless I have pictures which I'll upload in a day or so when I get the time to download them to my computer and web opt them.
