Saturday TeaRoom 7/18/09 Pet Peeves?

by Chip » Jul 18th, '09, 02:21

Greetings everyone and welcome to TeaChat. Please stop in and share what is in your cup with us.

Yesterday responders indicated they are using the majority of their teaware aquisitions. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaRoom topic. I have played with this for a while, but it is not a "positive" topic. However I am feeling a bit more cynical than normal due to a week's worth of spam invasions. I hopefully have it pretty well could off now, but there cut be some residuals.

Anyway, this is supposed to be fun and an opp to get to know each other a bit. Do you have a "pet peeve?" If so please share with us. We promise not to judge you.

I am looking forward to sharing TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

I have some flexibility so pet peeves are not a big issue with me. The big one would be SPAM ATTACKS AGAINST TEACHAT! Death to the bots!

Had a pretty insane day today, full of biking into trees for fun, running after friends on bikes, ran into everyone and my grandma in walmart..., plus FOOD-one of my friends made of us turkey spam musabi!!!,SOOOO much tea also- FF darjeeling, two YM seshs, THREE pots of Castleton moonlight (I must say it is finger licking good :) ) they loveeeeed this tea just like me!

Having a late cup of FF darjeeling risheehat 09! delicious as usual! I have a pet peeve somewheres, not sure!!! I guess its when people want to stare at a tv instead of go outside or go somewhere. But that changes, depending on how stressful or tiring the day was. ME LIKES SOME FOOD NETWORK AND NATURE FILMS THOUGH! hehehe

Hope everyone has an teaday that is insane in da membrane! Toodles!

Not many pet peeves for me.
Maybe people who believe (and want you to believe) that something is true because they saw it written somewhere.

Karigane gyokuro this morning.

When posts are talking about photographs, I hate seeing the word 'Pitcher' - is this a transatlantic acceptability? I have seen it used on several occasions!

I like to use the 'New Posts' Icon to track what to view. If there are a lot I will read what I have time for, log out and come back at a later time for the rest.
:( Logging out clears them all!

But if someone else has been on holiday, and returned, there may be up to 9 TeaDay posts waving the 'New Posts' Icon at me, only to find it is a simple monosyllabic answer to the poll question!

Not a lot to worry about really!

In my cup this morning, Can Sai Jin Pin Guan Yin Wang from WanLing TeaHouse.

In my garden at the moment, the Bergamot is flowering nicely!

No, no it's not an acceptable use of the word. And it's similar to when people say a web "sight." It's either somebody who doesn't know there's a difference, or just made a typo while typing quickly.

I find that pet peeves are not as annoying if I accept that I annoy other people in special ways as well. :D

This morning, stuck on an oolong.

I have several really. They tend to center on bad driving habits and questionable grammar. People who cannot seem to find their turn indicator are pretty high on the list of folks who peeve me greatly. As are folks who cannot figure out how to navigate a 4-way stop.

I am not sure why such things get under my skin like they do....but, they do.

Grammar/syntax errors, especially on things such as business adverts, really aggravate me as well.

Yunnan Gold in the cup this morning. I love this stuff!

And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

I'm not too bad. I feel sorry for my brother in law, he gets all hot under the collar every time he sees 'website' in print or hears someone articulating it as only one word - DO THESE PEOPLE NOT KNOW IT IS A WEB SITE!!!!!

Still deciding on tea. I'm thinking green but my dad is on the way round to help me put up a garden shed for the guinea pigs and green tea won't cut it for him, maybe qimen or assam and I can have my tasteless watery tea later.

edit: just reread the thread and I have to agree with Herb_Master that the vanishing posts in the new posts section is a little annoying.

my new ito en uji shincha today, very lovely. Pet peeves... Over cooking my shincha, people who double park in very busy roadways and men who treat women like pieces of meat.

I have a ton of pet peeves. Probably the worst are people eating chips really loud or clipping their nails on the train.

Wanling Hong Xin Te Chun Guan Yin Wang this am.

Ok clipping nails on the train.....eeewwww.

I believe if one is first in line at a red light, it is one's civic duty to
PAY ATTENTION
and proceed immediately upon the change in color.
and if one is second, ones duty is to honk at the sorry beepity blank who is slacking.
Perhaps clipping one's nails?

I have a few pet peeves that I try not to get too upset about. I dislike it when people say they're waiting "on line" instead of "in line." For example, if you are on the internet waiting for a page to load, you are waiting on-line (or online). If you are standing in a line at the supermarket or Disney World, you are waiting in line.

I hear it so often (usually from people talking on their cells while in line) that it's probably now considered grammatically correct.

I tend to be less focused on grammar and spelling on the internet, but using "loose" when you mean "lose" bothers me. I'd almost rather have the person spell it "luse." :D

Most discussion forums utilize anti-spamming (bots, web addy insertions) code to thwart fly-by troll posts.

High mountain oolong in my cup.
