OK, I will start it off with a few of many I think I have.

Never the same exact tea twice in a row, period. And virtually never the same exact tea twice on the same day.

I feel obligated to continue resteeping a tea til the leaf has given up everything it has to give.

Speaking of which, still resteeping Yutaka Midori from earlier today, I guess up to around 6 steeps.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

I share all of Chip's and probably a whole bunch more. I buy more tea than I can possibly consume, and I am overjoyed when I finish off a bag or sample or tin or whatever. I am nearly religious about not having more than one sencha open at the same time ... though I might have a gyokuro going in parallel. I seem to be developing a tendency to photograph whatever I am drinking.

This Maloom Himalayan was a gift from Cyberhoofer, for which thanks! It is very like a fine Darjeeling.

Maybe, maybe not.

I try to use all my teaware and sometimes put all the teaware I haven't used for a while on my dining room table to get sure not to "forget" to use it.

Keemun Mao Feng Imperial this morning.

Hrm, I'm not so sure. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to tea stuff. . .

I was so unmotivated last week that I spent the entire week with the same oolong...! Meanwhile this morning, I've shifted to an Ali Shan.

I'm sorry but I can't think of anything related to tea that would fall under idiosyncracy.

I use the tip of my right ring finger to test the temperature of my cup to gauge when it's safe to drink(I burn easily, especially my tongue but it relates to exposure to sun also). The left tip just doesn't work, but that may have more to do with me being right-handed than anything else.

Having a bowl of matcha right now. I'm a bit stressed since I'm having people over in a few hours and I'm making a key lime pie which I've never done before. Miraculously, I managed to mix everything properly and it's now in the oven. Wish me luck :o

Good luck with the key lime pie, and please share the recipe if it's really good! :D

No tea idiosyncracies here. I drink the same thing many times in a row, can get stuck using the same pot/cups for weeks at a time, sometimes forget and oversteep...

But it's not a morning if I don't have my tea!

I too agree with Chip and Salsero. there are also teas that I just will not touch, I am very traditional and some teas simply will not do.

Most days I stop by a Tea forum and vote in a poll about tea.

I have more than one I figure...
My main one though -

There can be NO DISHES in the sink when I'm ready to make a cuppa!
I must destroy (wash) these offending dishes!
How can I possibly relax enough to make a cup when I know there are dishes that need to feel my wrath... of DOOM!

After the dishes are gone, I'm good to go :)

After torturing this morning's dishes until the food has fallen off of them - BANCHA!

Ok, ,now for my response. I am really having to think about this one! My biggest tea idiosyncracy is that I go to the tea isle at any grocery or market I enter, even though I rarely buy anything. I go through the isle and survey what brands they have for sale, even in the Kroger where I shop regularly. I suppose I am subconsciously thinking that they'll suddenly start carrying a wide variety of loose-leaf tea.

I am not structured at all about things like which teaware I use, or about making the same tea more than once in a row. In fact, I tend more to get in a rut and alternate between a couple of teas almost constantly, until I force myself to break out. My break-out from my 09 Darjeelings and Yutaka Midori yesterday was konacha, which was sorta ho-hum as expected. And today, a *lovely* break-out... Aa Li Shan Dark 09 from TeaHome... wowzers, delicious! I am not usually a big roasted oolong drinker, but this one is really ringing my bell.

While I see the benefit of avoiding the rut and switching up often to keep your palate alert and challenged... having a routine and then intentionally breaking it can offer some really dazzling experiences too. Not that I planned it that way... its just who I am. :D

Happy TeaDay! I am watching hopefully for Hagi EMS today... will keep you all posted.

Sarah

Yes! I have more than one!

I never drink the same tea more than once on any single day, and try not to drink it more than two or three times in a week. I have a lot of tea to work through!

I HAVE to use my Zojirushi water boiler/warmer unit now. Ever since I got this unit a number of weeks ago... I'm addicted to it!

I try to drink between 4 and 5 different teas every weekday, and at least three on the weekends. It doesn't matter if they're hot or iced (cold or hot brewed).

Like kymidwife I also survey the tea selection of every grocer I visit. Some of this is to take stock of local prefernces, some is to satiate my hope for a loose tea presence!

---

In my cup this morning: Purity mint black tea from Tavalon.

G'morning all :)
This morning I'm just sipping on some iced Pina colada herbal. I'm not enjoying the limitations on my caffeine intake though, especially if it's going to be for a long 41wks ;)

Have a great tea day!
