Sunday TeaRoom 8/09/09 Seen any good flicks?

by Chip » Aug 9th, '09, 02:48

Greetings one and all. Welcome to TeaDay. Please stop by often today and share what is in your cup today.

Yesterday we discussed bad teaware purchases we made when we began drinking tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Can't think of anything, so I am declaring a TeaRoom TeaDay. For the poll, have you seen any good movies lately? Please share with us.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Watch what you like, like what you watch ...

I loved From Mao to Mozart: Isaac Stern in China (1979).

The last two movies I have seen were both rather fun, and gets 4 out of 5 from me,

Hausu - a Japanese horror comedy from the seventies. A girl and her friends go to her aunts house in the countryside, where the girls start to die violent deaths at a high pace. Not very scary, but it's very visually creative!

La Journée de la jupe (Skirt Day in English), with Isabelle Adjani as a teacher in a bad neighbourhood who takes her unruly pupils as hostages with a gun. A fresh take on a much debated problem!

Three cups of bancha this morning.

Yes. I recently saw Fog of War with Robert McNamara and Comandante with a certain F. Castro a couple of weeks ago. The Sixties is probably my second favorite decade of the 20th century, obviously a distant second to the Eighties, which I actually lived through from beginning to end. Yay!

Have yet to brew tea today, but I'm eyeing the Keemun again.

I don't have the occasion to watch movies anymore. There was a time when I saw a new movie every week, even if nothing good was playing. The last movie I saw was probably almost a year ago, and before that, another year back.

This morning, I am going to attempt to get my next batch of kombucha rolling. I'll probably try to have some TKY while I do it, as well as scarf down some breakfast. Should be fun!

I watch lots of movies, many of them good. One of the more memorable ones of late is Lovers of the Arctic Circle.

Soon there will be some East Friesian blend in my cup.

The last movie of note I seen was Bronson. It was quite a charming little movie.

I put out some tippy Yunnan leaf and decided at the very last minute I didn't really want it right now, mao jian instead.

No, need to. I really enjoy going to the movies. I have Netflix, but the last few have been unremarkable.

I have been having a yen for TKY, ha. In my cup this morning TKY from Camellia Sinensis. This is extremely sweet and floral, wow.

The most recent movie that I watched and liked was One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. I have to catch up as I didn't really watch too many movies when I was in school. I also watched a lot of MST3000 but those are all winners ;)

TGY in my cup

Ah, what is "good" is so subjective. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince won't win Daniel Radcliff a "Best Actor" award, and the special effects were toned down from previous films which probably disappointed some... but for those of us "Potterheads" who know the books foward and backward, we saw a film that was very true to the spirit of the epic story we've followed for years. IMO. I saw it 4 times, but I am an extremist, and I am in touch with this. :D

Drinking the Japanese Black Koucha organic from Yuuki-Cha this morning. And thinking of browsing the Camelia Sinensis website again... keep it up, VIctoria!

The last movie that I actually sat through from beginning to end was Because of Winn-Dixie. It was cute, but the main reason that I watched it was because Dave Matthews had a part in it. Prior to that, we saw the newest Terminator movie, which was okay but not as awesome as the original ones. Right now, I am looking forward to seeing District 9, which comes out next weekend if I remember correctly and hopefully will have time to rewatch Across the Universe some point soon, as I have been meaning to do for the past week.

Cup is empty, as I am waiting for my zoji to boil the water.

The last movie I saw at the theater was Up. I really like most of the Pixar movies because they entertain both children and adults. The only one I haven't really cared for was Ratatouille.

At home the last movie I watched was Coraline. (Can you tell I have a child at home?) I didn't like that one at all and really wonder how they could label it as a kids' movie. I also recently watched Watchmen - didn't really like the graphic blood and guts.

Irish Breakfast this morning, getting prepared to go bowling this afternoon - the first time in about 20 years!

I liked the movie "Moon" that came out recently (it's pretty much a one-man show, starring Sam Rockwell as the lead and Kevin Spacey as the voice of the robot assistant). I'm also looking forward to seeing "District 9," if www.kidsinmind.com doesn't say it's too gory (I don't always agree with the website's ratings, but they always have a full description of all the violent parts of the movie. Kinda spoilerish, I know, but it's better than me going and passing out in the theatre).

I can't see a lot of movies that have gore or needles because they make me faint (I've had to deal with this since middle school), so most horror movies and cop dramas are out.

LOVED the Pixar movie "UP!"

The only movie I've seen recently was a waste of $9 and 90 minutes. The collector. Iced Hyson this a.m. We have a heat advisory in WI. And I have a long night in a hot kitchen :(
