It's a 2004 Green Big Tree. It should be from Menghai factory, and the label says '勐海' on it, but I can't say for sure whether this is actually a Menghai factory production. Maybe someone else can tell more from the picture. Can you take a picture of the inner ticket(s)?

For which years was a Green Big Tree (with a similar wrapper?) produced by Menghai, post '99? I recall a 2001 being reviewed in Cha Dao, no wrapper images, skip4tea was recently selling a 2002 Green Big Tree 2, with a prominent 2 on the wrapper, and Hobbes reviewed teas sold as 2003 Big Green Tree including 'fake' version with an image of a similar wrapper.

Also note the 2008 Xiaguan reproduction. The Yunnan Sourcing page mentions that this version was commissioned by an individual, who had previously commissioned versions in 1999-2002. Odd that an individual would commission a version of this cake in '99 (based on the reputation of the '98 perhaps)?

Thanks wyardley & pb2q,
I can't take more detail pic since the cake still on the way.
It should be from Menghai (2004 Teji grade), just want to make sure.
Here's another pic from the vendor.

The leaves look rather... whole. See the bare cake images on the skip4tea page; the '99 that I've sampled was similar: Menghai style chopped leaves.

From the small picture of the tea leaves/cake and the wrapper. This is not a Menghai Tea Factory product.

Any better pics of the cake and nei fei would be good to confirm it. by the way, where did you get it from?

Does not look like MengHai Factory. There are lots of "Big Tree" beengs out there. It is very possible that it was made by a lesser known factory. I have yet to see a MengHai Factory Big Tree where the tree print is perfectly done, the year is given on the front, and the leaves just dont look right. This is of course speculation.
