Greetings everyone and welcome to another TeaDay. Please be sure to stop in and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday we discussed fave food dishes. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today is a FreeDay TeaDay. Please stop in and discuss pretty much whatever is on your mind.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Sunday TeaDay 8/16/09 FreeDay TeaDay!
Early posting, doing some work on my computer. So, if you never ever see me again ... it's been grand!

I was kinda surprised to see the TeaDay poll already. I live in California so the TeaDay poll usually updates early, but it's still pretty late in the night...so when I saw this I was like "wow, is it that late already? Did I really just spend the last 3 hours looking at all the Zhuni threads on TeaChat?"
You deserve a break, Chip, for your tireless work and for all the helpful advice you give (especially about Japanese greens and teaware). Hope to see you again

Actually, I was thinking we could put the Chipster to 'effective use'.
Lookie here. He's been lollygagging through 22 First Flush Darjeelings, compliments of our host. Occasionally rubbing this fact in our faces, too.
Surely you took notes, eh Chip? *devilish grin*
Could you post your impressions, please? The black tea subforum has been seriously hit by the dreaded Summer Dog Days Doldrum. We could use some fresh blood, err, fresh words of wisdom on Darjeelings.
Thank-you, in advance of your considered reply (presuming your computer is still sending out electrons after you finish tinkering with it).

Japanese black
I think a free-for-all once in a while is a good idea. Maybe we can brainstorm some topics for future, more structured TeaDays. Pets always go over well. Family or roommates or partner attitudes toward our peculiar habits could be another topic. Is it better to do tea on the cheap or with lavish expenditure? Who hides their tea habit IRL? How many sport tea-themed underwear?
Many thanks to Victoria for this sample of Koucha, Yuuki-Cha’s Kagoshima black tea. It is really an excellent tea just as she has proclaimed in these very annals, perhaps more similar to some of the darker Ceylons than most other blacks, but fruitier (juicy plum with a nutty astringency) than any of those that I can recall. Probably would be liked by Assam lovers because it is strong flavored, though the character is different from the maltier Assam teas.

Just today my sister saw me posting for a thread here, and she proceeded to laugh endlessly...

Yes, by all means let's give the hard-working mod man a break! (But Chip, how long can you tear yourself away from all this leafy excitement?)
Just came across a canister of what I think is Georgian Old Gentleman ... sadly I failed to label it when I transferred it to the tin, but whatever this tea is, it tastes wonderful! Plus, earlier this afternoon I unexpectedly snarfled a sweet little chayunomi at a thrift shop.
Life is good

Giving Chip a well-deserved break sounds like a good idea. Giving the readers of TeaChat free reign frightens me to no end.
Just kidding.
Mostly.
In any case, this morning I've managed to swing out of my rut (at least for today) and brew up a sample that came with my last order from Jing Tea -- a single bush 2009 Jiang Mu Dan Cong. The tea has a lovely mouthfeel, rather alkaline, and a nice variety of bouquet. Very enjoyable after the semi-bitter green I had been trying...

Beginning the TD with 88 Nights shincha from Sugimoto USA. Very good today ... well, everyday. SweeTea Joined in while chaos reigned it seems at the TeaTable with a "pride" of cats competing for attention and just being generally bad ... well, cats.

Yahooo! Free tea day...we can talk about whatever we want...
Sam-I-Am asks:
Do you like green tea?
Would you drink it from a bowl?
Would you drink it with a troll?
Would you drink it with a spouse?
Would you drink it in the house?
Would you drink it here or there?
Would you drink it anywhere?
(my sincere apologies to dear Dr. Suess...I couldn't help myself...maybe a FreeDay wasn't such a good idea
)

Speaking of green tea...
Chee-Mun in my cup. Green teas are making me rethink tea chemistry.
Sweet jesus, I dreamt of green tea lattes and green ice Popsicles last night. That's what happens when you spend the final conscious moments of your day idly wondering about green tea powder.
