I already own a tetsubin and a gaiwan but wanted something a little nicer for when I brew for others.
I was hoping to get a teapot that I can use for both oolong and green teas and is large enough for a couple people. I saw this but was unsure if it would absorb flavors or even be appropriate for my needs:

Re: Teapot advice
Welcome to the forum.
It is not particularly large, realistically holding around 5 ounces or less I would guess.
It is also flat, which might be stylish looking, is not really the best pot for many types of teas. Flat posts will tend to lose heat more quickly than a round more ball shaped pot. This particular kyusu is very suited to temp sensitive teas such as Gyokuro.
It would absorb some "aromas" but not to the degree of a Yixing. But it is unglazed clay.

Re: Teapot advice
Better to have separate teapots for greens and oolongs. The pot you are looking at is lovely, but, I don't think it is going to do justice to oolongs. Tokoname and Banko are traditionally used for greens. Yixing for oolongs. Which Yixing? Depends on the oolong. Don't buy anything until you've read through more information on pots and know what you are dealing with. They are not all equal and you will save money if you do your homework.vigo249 wrote:I already own a tetsubin and a gaiwan but wanted something a little nicer for when I brew for others.
