Good TeaRoom TeaDay everyone. Please do come in and share what is in your cup today ... all day.
Yesterday we discussed whether or not we were musically inclined. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Getting to know a little something perhaps about each other. Speaking of music, do you have an all time fave band? Please share of course.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Hmm I said yes because it normally changes year to year but Lagwagon has been my fave for the last 2 years, millencolin is a close second.

It's just way too hard to pin down to a single band...or even genre
Some consistent favorites are Xotox, Psyclon Nine, Angelspit, Gothminister, Blutengel, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Enigma, Deep Forest, Depeche Mode and Garbage.

Absolute favorite of all time for me is Dave Matthews Band. Despite listening to so many other artists, his albums are the ones I keep going back to. I've only seen him in concert once, but I would definitely like to see him live again at some point.
Other favorites include Rob Thomas/Matchbox20, Dave Koz, Jim Brickman, Keiko Matsui, Billy Joel, Blind Guardian, Evergrey, Protest the Hero, Jorn Lande, Edguy, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Sonata Arctica, Masterplan, and Coheed & Cambria. My favorite genres are jazz and metal, sometimes with some classic rock thrown in the mix.
I took a nap when I got home from the fair so it is now quarter after 3 in the morning and I am enjoying some hojicha before I decide to go back to sleep eventually.

Other than any Jazz band featuring Sidney Bechet
Probably the Byrds. and spin offs including McGuinn and Crosby.
Along with Lovin Spoonful and John Sebastien on his own.
Not to mention, Moody Blues, Beatles, Kinks, Who.
I assume voices will be coming along for another poll, so was not sure where to place Dylan, not a band, definitely not a voice but one of my favourites.

There are a few bands/artists that I have followed for quite a while. Number one artist/band is McCoy Tyner. Others are Miles Davis, Al DiMeola, Vic Wooten, King Crimson, Andre Segovia, Tomatito, the Yellowjackets, Ahmed Jamal, to name a few.

+1. I can mobilize lots of enthusiasm for a considerable number of acts, from 17th century classical stuff to industrial rock á la Rammstein. If I absolutely had to choose, I think I would fall down on these guys. The best concert experience I've ever had was with them when I was 20, and they played the entire soundtrack of my adolescence. Good times.entropyembrace wrote:It's just way too hard to pin down to a single band...or even genre
Having some good times today as well, in no small degree due to the Everspring Jade Oolong in my cup.

I've been out on travel the last couple days, and it's nice to be back! I looked at the previous days' polls and voted, but I will not be posting in those.
In any case, although I do listen to modern music, I don't have an all-time favorite "band." If I had to pick one, it would probably be They Might Be Giants, as I enjoy their craziness.
Instead, I prefer early music -- 15-1600s time-frame. I enjoy Byrd, Ockeghem, Tallis, Palestrina. . .
This morning, I am having a 'cooked' puerh from Jing tea. It is a 1997 Menghai (7572), and is apparently the first year of production for this tea. My first infusion here is still pretty light because the dry leaves were as dense as a gold nugget, but it seems to have all the characteristics of a normal cooked Menghai. It's going to be a lovely tea day!

Salsero, that is a beautiful shot. What kind of tea is in the little glass pot? It has an almost pinkish tinge.
Favorite band? Not really. I listen to just about everything and like most of it--classical, 40s-50s ballads, rock/pop from 60s-80s, classic and modern country, soundtracks and musicals, piano and guitar ambiant music, etc.
No tea yet. This must be fixed immediately!
Why does my post count NOT increase when I post in the daily poll?

There are too many great bands and musicians to really have a single all time favorite, but top of my iPod listening lists would be:
Pentangle
Belle and Sebastian
Orb, FSOL, Boards of Canada

Music... do they still make that anymore
Im sure they do its just not mainstream. The only band I like that still plays is the chilli peppers, Im so glad there back together from there creative break. I voted maybe because like everyone else said its hard to pick just one but to give you an idea of my music taste. Jimi Hendrix, CCR, Lynyrd Skynyrd, phish, Bob marley, the doors, the beatles, unfortunatly Im too young to have seen any in concert. Im sure there are more but...I did just get up.
Thanks to Victoria, now I "have to" order some Oolongs tonight from floating leaves
, so to get in the mood having some bai zhong today.

When I was younger, Bush was my absolute favorite band. I still like them, not gonna lie. These days, I have a rather large group of favorites that includes: Oingo Boingo, The Clash, Ours, Die Toten Hosen, Depeche Mode, Queens of the Stone Age, Rammstein, The Dresden Dolls, and The Hives.
In my cup today: that same generic Yunnan black, which hasn't managed to wake me up at all.

Ever since I was 10, without a doubt, Blink-182. Absolutely amazing band.

Re: Sunday TeaRoom 8/30/09 Fave band?
I don't have one all-time favorite band, but seem to alternate between several faves: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Beatles, Heart, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin.
Since I've always disliked country, I'm surprised that currently I'm liking a few country groups: Little Big Town, Sugarland and Lady Antebellum.
No tea yet, I went on a walk looking for our dog, who we haven't seen since yesterday.
