Good TeaDay everyone, and welcome. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday, we were off the tea topic and discussed fave musical intruments. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. It is that time again, did you have a fave tea for the month of August, if so, what? Please share details.

I'm not sure if they are any more favorites than they used to be, but I have had a lot of Taiwan oolong samples over the course of the month.

I had a "fling" with Japanese Greens in July, but she was too whimsical/simple for my tastes  so I decided to return to my old love, Wuyi. Perhaps in the spring, will my love for her return.

I think if I had to describe Wuyi as a girl, I think she would have a bold and upfront personality, which slowly mellows out over the years, leaving behind a floral and delicate personality...of course, this description also depends on the Wuyi varietal at hand!

Enjoying some Bai Ji Guan from Tea Gallery, testing it between my newly acquired Hong Ni/Zhu Ni pot and my go-to Wuyi Zi Ni pot. The former seems to present the flavor profile better, but the latter gives the tea a smoother taste...both taste delicious, but it's hard for me to say which one I would prefer.

I had mostly oolongs and pu'erh this month, but it had been so long since I had had a pu'erh, that I'm giving my win to it. Although I didn't enjoy the stinky feet one, I am still enjoying the 12 year old cooked pu'erh one (which I'm still enjoying today!)

Lots of great Japanese sencha last month, so, despite sounding repetitious, Japanese greens it is.

Had a great one to start the new month, Zencha Sencha the Ultimate. SweeTea found it to be the ultimate while Wulong and Gandalf did not, prefering TunaTea instead.

So I finally tried some high quality Dan Cong (Honey Orchid) and had a DC epiphany. I was like "ohhh, wow, so this is what some people on the board were talking about." And I've gotten better at brewing some of the less special/expensive DCs I'd bought earlier and appreciating what they have to offer.

I drank a lot of greens last month, kinda like cleaning out the inventory before they lose too much flavor and my favorite has to be long jing. It just has such a nice nutty taste and a hint of floral as well.

no tea yet

Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori!
Greens in general were my fave this month, and seem to becoming my fave in general.
Can't wait for Adagio's Genmai Cha! Restock date keeps getting pushed back :( Not complaining, I understand it's dependent on the source, just very interested in trying it!
I MUST HAVE IT!

I don't really know if it was my favorite tea but it was really memorable. It was a Mengku Holy Charm 2008 sheng that Gordon from dragon tea house recommended (for a shu drinker). When I first opened it, I smelled the bing and got a slight nutty/earthy chocolate smell. My first brew in all seriousness tasted like a really dark chocolate, I'd say 90ish percent cocoa, just enough where it has a little bitterness at the end. The flavor started to change and weaken over then next few infusions but that first cup was bliss.
Thanks for the recommendation Gordon.

I don't think I had a particular favorite for the month, my tea consumption was really down for some reason - either the heat or laziness or both!

I stuck with the "Dark Side" and voted black.

July and August was very warm. I've never been much of an iced tea fan, but after switching to cold brewing whole leaf teas in my Bodum Assam teapot, I drank it nearly every day. I guess cold-brewed tea - oolong, white, black and green - counts as 'other'.

Noname estate Ceylon in my cup, then the last steep of my white tea from last night. Chee Mun later on.

I was obsessed with Tia Guan Yin this month. Which is weird since I usually don't like it. However I had a bunch of aged and roasted ones that really peaked my interest for some reason.

This month it was green, Chinese green to be exact. Cui Que She or Jade Sparrow Tongue which is an absolutely delicious Chinese green tea.

A very special kind of leaf. It almost looks like miniature sugar peas (Not my photo):

It is also what I'm having right now :)

All of the teas that I drank in August were excellent -- it was a good Tea month -- but the best was Jing's semi-wild wudong dancong. Also exeptional was Hou de's Zheng-Yen Lao Cong Shui Xian.

Mr and Mrs Chip, please accept my late condolences for the loss of your friend.

Jing's Tie Luo Han was breakfast tea and Ippodo's Kaboku was lunch tea.
