Looking for a small teapot

by Joe Z » Sep 7th, '09, 03:45

I had a small Bodum teapot that I got from someone here on TeaChat up until a few weeks ago when it cracked. It looked something like this.

I'm looking for something that's small (1 person), as easy to clean as possible, and somewhat durable. Doesn't have to be glass, but dishwasher-friendly is a plus.

Suggestions?

there is the personalitea and the petite teapot from our host Adagio. one is glazed ceramic one is glass. both decent choices or even the "forlife" line of teapots seem to be durable little pots. check 'em at
amazon

Why not a Yixing? Certainly single person, not dishwasher friendly, but rinse and let dry is about as low maintenance as they come?

A glazed kyusu would fill the bill, including some that should be dishwasher safe. Den's has a few for under $20 that are practically bomb proof. They are great for entry into Japanese teaware and I still use mine for travel mostly since it is so tough.

I have the personalitea from adagio...it is a great pot. It does have a built in strainer (about 6 holes at the spout) so you don't have to use the infuser basket. I pour the tea thru the infuser basket when I decant the tea into a serving vessel. I use this pot every day for brewing my morning tea. It actually holds about 28 oz. The price can't be beat.

I also have the little blue glazed kyusu from Den's. It is a tough little pot and you can brew anything in it. It is also a nice looking little pot.

Both of these are very nice pots and neither will break the bank!

Happy shopping,
Dreamer

..little blue glazed kyusu from Den's, brews almost anything, nice looking, pretty well-made...recommended for travel.

Edit: get the green tea sampler, available only to first time buyers, for a couple of bucks extra.

So true....I have no honest idea how mine has not been broken or chipped, but it is the most durable little pot and perfect for one person.
