Greetings TeaFans, welcome to our TeaRoom TeaDay. Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed what tea(s) we might recommend to friends interested in tea. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaRoom poll and discussion topic. Speaking of TeaRooms, have you ever visited one lately, and how would you rate the experience? Please share with us.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone.

No, at least not lately.
I don't know any good tearoom near to my place. Mariage frères would be a decent place when I am in Paris, but it is overpriced (about 50€-70€ (70$-100$) per person for a light meal).
Karigane gyokuro this morning.

I have not been to any tea rooms. The tea rooms near to the areas where I've lived recently seem to be more of the English-style tea room, and I'm not so fond of that style.
Tai Ping Hou Kui this morning, to add a little green to the day.

A local tearoom that I like to purchase teas from can be a bit hit or miss when it comes to sitting down there. The ambiance varies with the music choosen, and the help is ever changing and always learning.
I'm evaluating a puerh this morning. So far it is enjoyable.

I hope to go to a tearoom someday but probably not anytime soon. I have too much fun brewing my own tea and its much cheaper. Also I have to drive at least an hour to the nearest tearoom.
Yunnan gold in my cup

There are a few tearooms nearby but most are the too pink and fluffy for me. I like English-style "tea," but suffocating ruffles, feather boas, hats, yards of chintz, plastic flowers, etc....ugh.
Yorkshire Gold loose-leaf in the teapot this morning. It's raining and chilly.

Well I when DaughteroftheKing was here in April we went to one with a group. Although called "tea rooms" many places here in Southern California are really luncheon restaurants that serve English style tea. And although they had a tea menu, it was mostly flavored stuff. So while the company and atmosphere was great, the tea was just passable. A nice experience, but not really a tea room or tasting per se.
In my cup this morning a lovely FF Darjeeling from the Soom Estate. I haven't had this one in awhile and wow, it is a great FF of 2009.

No tearooms around here, there was one, fluffy English style tearoom. I would have had to check my "Y" chromosome at the door. Anyway, it is certainly something that is "missing" from my resume of tea experiences.
Began the TD with a blend of several good teas, Zuiko from Den's, Honyama from Rishi, and Gyokuro from Maeda-en. Dribs and drabs from nearly empty tins that came out remarkably well! Enjoyed it in a Sea Cucumber Hagi by Seigan. SweeTea stopped by the inhouse tearoom to sample the tea while Wulong observed.

I visit our chanoyu tearoom three times a month (for lessons), which I absolutely love.

The door always reminds me of BSG
As for tearooms in the western sense, I haven't really found one that I like enough to visit regularly for tea alone. (The frou-frou style of English tearoom turns me RIGHT off, and that's mostly what we've got hereabouts.) However, a friend runs a small restaurant called Kissako Green Tea Cafe, which is my favourite place to enjoy Japanese tea and a light meal.

No tea rooms around here. Been quite a while since I had tea at one, in Vancouver BC. The 'fluffy type' rarely serves good tea - last one I was in served teabagged pots of tea!
High Mt oolong in my cup. Windy here; good day for a hearty Autumnal tea.

There is one tea room about 10 miles from me, but it's also a gift store / cheese store, and the tea room is really tiny. I've been there for cheese and gifts but not tea! Their tea selection is limited to Earl Grey and other flavored teas that I'm not fond of.
Irish Breakfast this morning. We had a massive rainstorm yesterday and last night, and IB seems to fit the fall-ish weather.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SALSERO!

No never been to a tea room...as far as I know the only thing called a "tea room" around here is a cutesy place for little girls to dress up and have birthday parties.
I did have "tea" in a very nice hotel once in London in the early '80s. It was awesome...wonderful tea served in nice china with delightful little sandwiches and nice cookies (i.e. biscuits).
Tea today...Ceylon and Assam mixed this morning with cinnamon and honey, enjoyed while sitting in the sunshine on our deck. It has been cool and cloudy here for a few days and even though it was still a bit cool this morning, the sunshine and the tea made it just so schweeeet!
Right now, Kabusecha is in my cup. I'm thinking that there will be another tea before the weekend is done, too.
Happy sipping,
Dreamer
