Please help to identify an yixing teapot
The volume is about 120ml. I don't know anything about the clay or maker. There was no certificate that came with this teapot.

Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot
I bought it from a local (Israeli) boutique importer of tea and teaware. I hope he will launch a site one day that I will be able to shareTokyoB wrote: where did you get it from?

Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot
I have seen something very similar recently. Ill try to find a link.
Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot

Just a little bit similar.
Name of the artist is something like Wan Lin Quan(Zuan).

Are you saying that a string on the handle is something rare and mine teapot could be from the same artist?yee wrote:

I was hoping that Chinese speaking members will read the bottom mark - artist name as well as clay should be there, right?

I can ask for a translation of the seal but probably you will already get a better answer by the time i get it

Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot
Don't you guys think it is more than a coincidence that the handle is made the same way. I would think the same artist made the pot as this is not something commonly seen. But, aside from just decoration, why would someone put string on the handle?
Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot
The vendor says it ment to reduce hit and insure better grip when you hold it... actually just a decoration)))Tead Off wrote:Don't you guys think it is more than a coincidence that the handle is made the same way. There is another one from the same artist

But not all of his works have strings on handles)))

Re: Please help to identify an yixing teapot
Even for Chinese speakers, it's not always easy to recognize the ancient style characters on the seal
The one on your seal is relatively easy. It's read as 華君制陶 (Huajun Studio).
I know very few names of yixing craftsmen. chrl42 knows many of the important names. But overall there are tens of thousands of yixing craftsmen in China, and most of them are not well known. So even if we know the name, we may not get to know much more than a name. Only by googling, I got the guess that the maker may be Gu Huajun - if the seal on the handle or under the lid is a Gu (which is too small to see in the picture). It's said that he is from extensive family of Gu Jingzhou (the late yixing guru), but I guess he is currently not quite famous yet.
