Wu Yi Rock Oolong tea fro PuerhShop

by Drax » Oct 12th, '09, 15:49

I was curious if anybody had tried this tea from the PuerhShop?

I had ordered some a couple of months ago, but finally got around to trying it. It's been surprisingly good! The leaves smelled like chocolatey flowers, and then upon brewing, the leaves broke forth into that tobacco-ish aroma.... it might be a little harsh on the throat, but otherwise it's been quite flavorful.

I've got to look up exactly what "wu yi rock" oolong is, but I drink a lot of oolong and have sampled many of the Chinese and Taiwanese teas, so this caught my eye. I guess I'll grab a small tin with my next order. Any other comments/notes you can share? Care to trade a sample? I can send photos of what I have.

hey drax, this is my first post but ive been browsing the forums for a while now.

i picked up a tin of that wuyi with my last puerhshop order as well. I also thought it was quite good. nice and chocolatey smell and pleasant to drink.
the price wasn't bad either, might have to pick up another tin with my next order (finished this one already)!

Hey nickE, glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'm not experienced enough in oolongs to be able to compare it to others, but it seemed pretty tasty to me, too. I think I was most shocked by the aroma strength of the dried leaves.

jackdaniel -- not sure I can add much more about tasting notes. I've noticed that a black tea flavor comes through underneath the 'rock' flavor. The leaves are also very chocolatey dark, and even after 5 brewings they are still looking a bit shriveled.

Interesting. Sounds like I may have to ad a tin to my upcoming order...
