Tuesday TeaDay 10/13/09 China aka teaware?

by Chip » Oct 13th, '09, 01:38

Greetings one and all. Please stop in and share what is in your cup throughout the day.

Yesterday we discussed the prevelence of Chinese teas in our stashes. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Today we shift from discovering a consensus of teas by country for TeaChatters to a consensus of teaware by country and/or style. Today, please share whether or not you own any Chinese origin AND style teaware? Share some information regarding your Chinese teawares.

I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Ha! For once I'm first!

I have three Chinese teapots and a number of Chinese-type teaware. I thought I had more Japanese teaware, but sadly, no.

I guess I was going to say "Just a few" as I only have 4 yixing. But then I remembered my rather extensive gaiwan collection. Many were bought trying to discover the right size. Several were bought just because they were attractive. :)

Ahh I knew that last brew of tea was going to keep me up!

Chinese wares definitely dominate my teaware. In fact, I only have a couple of items that are not Chinese. I've got a number of yixing pots as well as a few gaiwan. I'm keeping it simple. Also, I'd rather spend money on tea than teaware (and space is a good limiting factor, too).

This morning, I'm continuing with a rock oolong that I started yesterday afternoon. The weather is getting cool again, and it feels great once more to have a cup of hot tea this morning!

Only a couple gaiwan and a few porcelain tea pots. Can certainly use more.
:)

Happy TeaDay to you all!

I have three gaiwan, one yixing pot, and two sets of cups. That's it for Chinese tea ware.

Lao Cong Shui Xian again this morning.

I am not certain mostly because any unique teaware I have on display in my china cabinet and I put them there so many years ago I forgot about their history other than I love them.

I have a bunCha Chinese teaware, not too much though. A few gaiwan-s, "gaiwaneques," nice small cups, small glass pot, and some Yixing though nothing anywhere near the level of quality that is talked about in the many topics on the forum ... one day I should remedy this. Lots of Chinese tins though those are more accessories.

Began the TD with Sencha Premier compliments of Adagio. I noticed a lovely aroma this AM steaming from my cup, like a phoenix rising on a dreary cool morning here. :D SweeTea enjoyed a smell while Fuji, and Ceylon did not.

Most teaware I have is Chinese. 7 yixings, couple of gaiwans and most cups are at least Chinese in style. Two tea trays also add weight to the Chinese side.

Sad morning as I just found a crack developing on the side of one of my gaiwans - thankfully the one I'm least attached to, it's only used when I'm making for 4 or so people which isn't very often.

Living life on the edge today brewing some mao jian in a kyusu.

We got rain last night! The first real amount since March/April, and we need it, of course!

In my cup this morning Darjeeling oolong.

Have a nice day everyone!

Chinese teaware dominates my limited (by choice) selection. Luckily, I found right away what works for me - The gaiwan. Not a day passes that I don't use this versatile brewing tool.

Second on my list of trusty Chinese teaware would be the tea thermos.

My yixing bat & dragon teapot would be the third most used piece of Chinese teaware on my list.

More shu pu this morning.

Couple each: porcelain and yixing teapots/cups, and porcelain, yixing (lined and unlined) and glass gaiwans.

Yancha this morning, after a nice start with estate ceylon in my cup.

This afternoon: Assam Satrupa Estate Kama Autumn 2008 Batch 585. Classic afternoon tea (if you think all Assams are malty, you're in for a surprise).

Perhaps too much China teaware. I am thinking I may need to start selling off part of my fleet.
