Good TeaDay everyone. Please stop by and share what is in your cup throughout the day with us.
Yesterday we discussed Chinese teaware. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Today we again search for a consensus of teaware by country and/or style. Today, please share whether or not you own any Japanese origin AND style teaware? Share some information regarding your Japanese teawares.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Wednesday TeaDay 10/14/09 Where Japan teaware?
I own one item from Japan -- a chataku. Thrilling, no? As much as I love Japanese style, I've held way back on buying teaware (in general) simply because of the drain of $$ (i.e. once I start, I won't stop).
This morning, I'm giving the rock oolong one last spin before moving on. It has held up its flavor quite well...

I own some teaware from Japan. More than 100 items I guess.
I like very much Kyoyaki. Here are two of my favorite items: a chaire and a chawan. They don't match well so I don't use them at the same time.

I own two items of Japanese teaware, a very humble chawan and a simple black Tokoname Kyusu. I currently have no desire to expand my collection, as what I have is perfectly fit for purpose.
Started the day with O-Cha's Uji Matcha Kiku Mukashi, delicate and sweet is how I would describe it, a very satisfying way to start the day.

Have one Japanese tokoname kyusu and a Seigan wan coming shortly. I make Japanese inspired teaware, does that count?

Have a few pieces. Chawan, chasen for the matcha consumption. A kyusu - that I suspect was made somewhere besides Japan.
And two nice (new) Hagi pieces.
matcha ware upon arrival last spring:

Phoenix Dan Cong this morning methinks, even though the Chawan is looking fine. Happy TeaDay!

I know it is terrible that I can't remember if any of my teaware is from Japan. I think I do but I am not certain. One day I am going to have to check out all the teaware I have on display so I can answer these questions better.

Mine is between "a few" and "many". I have a few kyusus, only use the smallest two, but just love the porcelain and pattern of the rest and keep them. I have a few dozens Japanese porcelain cups, most of them are between 60ml and 100ml, so they match my yixing of different sizes well
Most are second hand, not expensive, not unique, but they are so pretty!

I have more than I was planning to have: one porcelain houhin set, two Tokoname kyusu, one of them is just special tea or special guests, four Arita teacups, and two -- soon to be four -- cups from Hagi. In the spring, I plan to get into matcha in a small way, so at least a couple of chawan will find their way here. I don't like to have a lot of things and I'm near my limit now.
Jing's Xiang Hua TGY is in my cup right now.

I would say - Yes, they dominate my teaware selection. I own many Hagi pieces and quite a few Tokoname kyusu and many porcelain cups. Also several porcelain tea sets as well as quite a number of hand crafted matcha bowls.
Even my heart shaped cup is Japanese - made by Arita.
My tea this morning - The Black Pearl - arrrr.

Few items: couple kyusu, shibi set, a chawan. 'Tis enough for the Japanese greens I have on hand.

The Japanese teaware I own amounts to two functional kyusu, a third without a lid, and a sakura bark tea scoop. I just realized that none of my yunomi are actually from Japan. Hm.
This afternoon, I'm trying out one of Adagio's new offerings: Dancong Aria. It's smooth and lightly toasty-floral, without the astringency I sometimes find (and dislike) in a dancong.
