Yesterday we discussion a progression in teaware, post joining TeaChat. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. Do you have a favorite "type" of tea (for instance blacks) and what percentage of your total tea consumption is this tea? Please share with us.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 10/17/09 fave tea consumption?
Japanese greens for sure, about 70% of my tea consumption (a little less when the first harvest of Chinese greens is available) I guess as I also have regularly black teas.

I'll guesstimate that I drink about 50% whites. The rest is green, oolong and sporadically black teas.
For one reason or other, I seem to drink sencha on Saturdays. A subconscious compulsion, no doubt.

Pu'erh here, but lately the consumption % has been pretty low. That's mostly because I've been trying to explore better the other types of tea.
This morning, I am continuing with a huang shan green tea that I started last night. Such a nice subdued grassy sweetness. Mmmm.

Chinese oolong constituted 60% of my tea diet so far this year with Japanese greens coming in second near 40%. I've also consumed small amounts of white, yellow, black, and pu-erh tea.
Congrats on your 1st TC Anniversary Drax!
Semi-wild Wudong dancong is my breakfast tea today, so the weekend is looking up.

I would have to say 80% or more on the tea I drink is green. It is certainly what I crave 100% of the time!

Some would call me an equal-opportunity drinker. Some would call me fickle. Whatever the case, there's a great deal of variety in what I drink, especially as the seasons change. I'd say overall I drink about 30% oolongs, 30% Darjeelings, and 30% Japanese greens. The remaining 10% is the occasional black, white, chinese green, etc.
In the spring and early summer months, I was almost all shincha and FF Darjeeling. Now I'm leaning more toward oolongs and 2nd Flush Darjeelings although my supply is dwindling and I must order something soon.

Blacks, Oolongs and the occasional Greens. I'm looking forward to the Lochan Tea online tasting on Facebook that's coming up soon - a great opportunity to try some new Darjeelings, Blacks and I even think there was an Oolong on the list.

Re: Saturday TeaDay 10/17/09 fave tea consumption?
These days my "favorite" I suppose, in degree of consumption, would be China blacks. However, I vary. In the really hot weather I experienced this summer, I became a fanatical drinker of greens. For most of my tea drinking career until the past year or a bit longer, my passion has been oolong teas: at first the more "green" less roasted varieties with lots of buttery and nutty notes, progressing to the fruitful wonderfulness in all of its varieties of the Phoenix type, to the wonderful high roastedness of yancha and the minerals of Wuyi.
In between, periods of intense puerh: most in the past the "finished" or "cooked" variety, yet savoring the aged and not-so-aged beauty of "green" cakes.
Today, I am drinking a 2004 YiWu beeng cha finished puerh from Imperial Tea Court. Leaves are large: from trees that were allowed to grow wild during the 60s. Smooth and delicious, very mellow with a sort of mild tannic taste. No bitterness whatsoever. No trace of heavy "wet" finish smell or taste, rather a more balanced dry sense. That's the best I can describe it, sorry.

Oolongs for me - probably 70% then blacks at 20% and others at 10%.
When I made my morning tea, even though I was 1/2 asleep, I knew something was wrong. I had reordered my favorite Nilgiri from ToT and this, what eve it is - is not it. Wrote to ToT, we'll see what they say.
Moved on now to Darjeeling Oolong from Camellia Sinensis.
