Chinatown Philadelphia?

by chris&amy » Oct 19th, '09, 13:43

I saw a post about Tea in Philadelphia but can not seem to find it anymore. Sorry if this is a re post. Is there anywhere in Philly's Chinatown that sells authentic Chinese Teapots? :?:

As you face north, looking towards the big Chinese style gate over the street, take the right hand sidewalk north and look for a shop that is one flight underground. I believe the stairs are set back aways in what looks a little like a shopping arcade or big deep store windows. There is a wall of teapots and a huge selection of tea. It's been a couple years and I can't remember the name of the street, but it is the one with the Chinese gate. I think it is the main north/south street in Chinatown. Good luck!

10th Street.

Having been there a few times in the last year, I would have to say it is either very discreetly marked or is no longer there. I will definitely have my eyes open for it next time!

A lot of things are in a constant state of change in Philly's Chinatown.

Perhaps the best find, beautiful authentic jade teacup/bowls.

There are a few stores selling Yixing, though not of the caliper of those talked about on TeaChat. Also, Gaiwan, Gaiwanesque pots are pretty easy to find if you look.
