Good TeaDay everyone. Please do drop in and share what is in your cup today.
Yesterday we discussed "cross brewing." You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. One year ago I asked:
Vegetal, fruity, floral, grassy, smokey, umami, sweetness, nutty, marine, toasty ... which of THESE 10 flavor profiles wins the MOST favor with you in an unflavored tea? You can vote for as many as three. Please share your thoughts on this topic.
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Monday TeaDay 10/26/09 Which flavors ... ?
Hrm, I went with vegetal, grassy, and nutty. It's hard to pick just three. I wonder what I voted for last year...?
I'd also ask where 'earthy' is, but I guess you can't change the options from the previous year so as not to skew a comparison? *sniff*
This morning, continuing with adagio's Yunnan Jig, which has a slight pepperiness, or spiciness, to it. Hrm, there's another one.

I picked toasty, nutty, and umami. Three is too small a number to choose. For me toasty represents light to light-medium roasts, nutty refers to the nut-sweet quality that sometimes comes through -- I'm excluding the sharper tastes from this category like walnut and pecan hulls, and umami is self-explanatory.
Flavor descriptions like `grassy', `vegetal', and `marine' are mine fields as they can describe flavors that range from very unpleasant to highly desirable.
I'm having hibiki-an fuka superior this morning.

Last year, the forum only permitted one vote, you voted grassy!Drax wrote:Hrm, I went with vegetal, grassy, and nutty. It's hard to pick just three. I wonder what I voted for last year...?

Drat, missed earthy. While the old format permitted additions to the options at any time, the new format clears all the votes if a new option is added. Sorry "Pu heads!"

+1!Chip wrote:Last year, the forum only permitted one vote, you voted grassy! It was interesting reading last year's to see where people were at the time, and hope this year will reveal where they are today.
I wasn't even drinking tea at that time last year.

This morning enjoyed a 'grassy, veggy' sencha, but I will let the mod give you the details!
Have a TEArrific TeaDay everyone!

My taste buds seem to gravitate to the complex floral notes but is not limited to them. Like Oliverico said, I just enjoy a good or excellent tea. (Okay I prefer the "excellent.")
Have a great day everyone!

I voted "grassy", "nutty", and "toasty". Currently drinking some hojicha gold, which may have had a little influence on my votes

I voted vegetal and floral.
My least favorite is smokey. EWWW!
I actually have a green tea that was personally brought back to me from DEEP in China and it tastes very marine to me. The smell is wonderful but brewed the flavor reminds me of fish. Very odd and a little hard to get past. Not that it's a horrible taste, just an aquired one I'm sure.
Sencha in my cup this morning. I must have brewed it at to high of a temperature because it was a little off tasting.
Have a great day all!

Floral, grassy, and sweetness are my three.
Having some sencha today. I would say it's somewhat grassy, almost.

Maybe you could describe the leaf to us or post a pic, and perhaps someone will be able to identify it!

Floral and sweetness for me with light fruity notes. Everything found in High Mountain Oolong.
Started the day with Black Dragon Pearls. Next up, oolong.

My three votes were for fruity, nutty, and sweetness. I love teas that taste like dessert! Mmmm.
Re: Monday TeaDay 10/26/09 Which flavors ... ?
I voted Fruity and Sweetness. I was at a loss for a third pick.
