Not sure what happened to me. I've hated tea my entire life. Even hated southern sweet tea.
But then someone at work was drinking Tazo Chai tea and I smelled it and went

what is THAT? So I tried it and now I can't stop drinking any and all tea I can find at the store. I've tried Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Green Chai, Orange Pekoe... so far I've enjoyed them all.
I even went to Teavana (I read the bad stuff too late) and got some loose tea and a thermos to steep it in. Now I am ready to try out some samplers. Any recommendations? So far I seem to like black tea the best.

Black teas are generally easiest to acclimate to for newbies to tea. I started with blacks and at some point decided I liked greens, so beware of overbuying early on!
Yeah, samples/samplers are a good place to start your journey. Adagio has some nice samplers. Try some of the nonflavored and if you want, some flavored. Ultimately you must decide what teas you like. "Like what you drink, drink what you like!"
And ... welcome to TeaChat! I hope to see you around the place.

Southern sweet tea? Another southerner?! xD
It seems I live within 6 hours of more people here than I sometimes realize!
So any way, welcome.

Say bye-bye to any extra cash you have each month lol
A good way to get started is at Adagio. They offer tons of samples at great prices. It's a great way to try A LOT of different teas and narrow down what you like... or not narrow down.
If you really want to get into tea, read books and ask questions, everyone on here has been really cool with answering questions!

I'm not a southerner, I'm a midwesterner. I just figured sweet tea would be the easiest for me to stand back in the day. Nowadays I have to avoid sugar anyway so it's a moot point.
But thanks to all for the suggestion, I have been browsing the Adagio samples and will probably take the plunge soon! I do not have a teapot for loose tea yet, though. I guess I'll have to scrape up the money somehow...

I'd recommend a gaiwan. You can get one for $4.00 on eBay at Dragon Tea House. A gaiwan is super-versatile. You can brew virtually anything in one.
Let me see if I can find the link...

Hi,
I'd like to recommend tea from an online seller.
The tea they sell are perhaps not suitable for perfessional tea drinkers. By that I mean those people who have years of tea drinking experiences and have developed special preference about tea.
Instread, the tea they sell are good for tea newbies, like flavored tea or fruity tea. And the price is cheap as well.
You can have a look of their website.
