I've been a tea enthusiast for a while now and am shifting from chanoyu and matcha to teapots and loose leaves. Anyway, I really can't decide on the tea pot size. I do quite a bit of entertaining so I'm guessing a pot that's about 10 oz is alright...or if any thing else fails, I'll use my mug and not two oz. teacup...
Here are the two I'm thinking of getting:

(I live in NYC and am not a stranger to Ito-en, they've got a 3 oz, or maybe less version of this tea pot...)
and

another concern of mine is the porosity of the banko, I wouldn't brew black tea in it, but would light to medium oolong suffuse the pot's pores?
Thanks so much!
I've got a question about teapot size.

Re: I've got a question about teapot size.
I usually brew no more than 4oz at the time. As you can get at least three steeps of any decent tea, a 6oz teapot is OK but you can get a bigger one: you don't have to fill the teapot up to the rim.
Re: I've got a question about teapot size.
Thank you. I decided to get the bigger pot just because I do share my tea with the rest of the family, and they're pretty used to "American" size brewing >_<
Re: I've got a question about teapot size.
If you plan on brewing many different types of tea in the pot, then I would highly recommend getting something glazed/glass/ceramic as opposed to raw clay like tokoname or banko. Raw clay will season, and it may hold on to flavors for a while, so it's not very good for putting many different teas through.

Re: I've got a question about teapot size.
Oh that's awesome! I'd love to go, but not this Saturday. I'm interested though for the next meeting.
Btw, as for gong fu brewing, my sister (gotrice15287-she's one thread above this haha) just got a gaiwan and she's being ocd about it's "make". We get our stuff from Rishi because we're just beginning this "loose leaf" journey after doing chanoyu throughout HS.
As for my banko, it's strictly ornamental (for now).
Thanks for your concern!
