Greetings everyone, welcome to TeaDay. Please do drop in, share what is in your cup, share what is your cup ... throughout the day.
Yesterday we discussed fridge oddities. You can still vote and discuss yesterday's topic.
Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic might blow your mind!!! Which do you think you have the most of: teas, pots, cups, or tins?
I am looking forward to sharing this TeaDay with everyone. Bottoms up.

Re: Monday TeaDay 11/02/09 Teas, pots, cups, tins, oh my?
After some quick rummaging through the tea cabinet, I counted the following...
20 cups (I assume, Chip, that you mean cups bought specifically for the purpose of drinking tea
)
10 pots (plus 3 gaiwans)
9 tins (7 of which are made of cardboard)
8 teas (Uh, I guess it's time to stock up
) Note: I didn't include remainders of samples or bags with less than 3 grams. There's a handfull of those.
In my cup this morning is a Dancong I started yesterday, which was actually only an hour or so ago. So, technically, it's still my first tea of Monday. Hum, maybe that explains why I'm searching the house for tea ware at 1 in the morning???
Happy TeaDay (and Full Moon) everyone.

Re: Monday TeaDay 11/02/09 Teas, pots, cups, tins, oh my?
~45 teas (wow, didn't realize I had that much but most are samples)
~25 tins (all but 3 are vendor provided tins)
16 cups excluding the standard coffee/tea cup
6 pots (3 yixing pots, 2 gaiwans, 1 english styled teapot)
Just finished some wuyi along with an assignment, so I'm heading to bed.

Even though I bought a large number of clay cups a few months ago (some for storage purposes), the number of teas I have far outweighs anything else. Hrm, there's at least 50 in my pu'erh cabinet alone, if not more (I still have LOTS of samples).
But this morning, I'm still rolling with adagio's anji duet. And meanwhile, today I start work at a new location, so looking forward to meeting lots of new people and settling into a new routine. I'm not, however, looking forward to the longer commute, and having to drive on the highway. Ah well....

Re: Monday TeaDay 11/02/09 Teas, pots, cups, tins, oh my?
I am still very much in the starting phases with teaware, or as I say to make myself feel better and make the teaware cravings go away -- I am a minimalist.
So, I have just 4 cups, 1 gaiwan, and 2 teapots (the latter both gifts, one is yixing and really beautiful but at 300 ml way too big for me actually use.)
I have been putting my money on the leaf -- I have 14 teas in my cupboard, although many there aren't much more than 5-10 grams left.

I can't be bothered to count, but I definitely have more teas than teaware and tins. Most are samples.
Having some excellent SN today.

I have 67 types of tea in 77 packages. Tea samples are not included in these counts.
I have 36 pieces of teaware when counting all cups, brewing vessels, canisters, a fair cup, and an infuser.
Breakfast tea is Tea Gallery's Kagoshima sencha. I brewed it in the Hokujo and found, once again, that I need to use less leaf and a lower temperature when brewing with this pot.

Despite how full my designated tea and coffee area (mostly comprised of tea 90/10) I still keep collecting more and have become increasingly creative with my storage process. I personally enjoy the challenge of storing my teas than not have enough tea. I simply must have what I am in the mood drink that day.

Re: Monday TeaDay 11/02/09 Teas, pots, cups, tins, oh my?
I refuse to count tea and tins, it's too embarrassing.
I gave away 30 or so tea samples this past week, so the number is less than it could have been, but still ridiculously high... especially when one counts the selections here at home and also at work and at my mom's.
I'd say it's a close race between tea and tins. I have a box full of empty sample and 4 oz tins... and I have a bunch of samples of tea not in tins. So, they probably are rivaling one another for top spot.
Although, if the special offers continue, my teacup number may soon be out of hand. The total number of various cups probably approaches 40 or so... with ummm about 10 Hagi cups/yunomi (not counting the 4 little gyokuro cups or the one blue chawan).
I'm having a 2nd round of Puttabong FF at the moment, but getting ready to break open my Lochan samples and start Day 1 of the tasting.

Definitely more teas for me!
I'm anxious to see what others post on Facebook for the Lochan tasting. Today it was their Doke Silver Needle.
I think I'll go for something blacker and more substantial here at work today. Happy Monday everyone!

I have 6 teas, 3 teapots, 3 teacups, and 4 tins. I was on a sampling adventure and used to have a LOT more teas, but I'm trying to clean house since some of them are getting quite old.
No tea this morning

I shared tea served in one of our Hagi SO cups this morning with Chip.
I believe tea would still take first place in our home, however I have to believe cups would run a close 2nd, and now there's another Hagi SO!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the Tea Canisters ... oops.
Have a TEArrific TeaDay everyone!

After 10 years of drinking tea, teawares have caught up. CUPS have topped all others, followed by tins/Canisters, TEA, and pots/brewing vessels.
Began the TD with a tasting of Zuiko from Den's with DW. excellent asamushicha.
